Kalypso Media to reduce pricing on their games as a result of doing well

To celebrate it, I'm going to find one of their games and buy it. Awesome idea, Kalypso!

If you're looking for a virtual table-top check out the latest Foundry VTT

The last group I used to play with was in Roll20 and I didn't like it at all. Would love to try other VTTs but my take on 5e is usually casual, so it's usually difficult to find parties. Ok, let's face it, my abilities to even search for parties is crap lol

Quoting: NociferAh, Mass Effect. That sci-fi game that had such an absolutely great first part, before somehow managing to turn into an absolute crapfest in its second and third parts. For anyone who not only cares about good game writing but also enjoys reading about good game writing (and writing in general)
Pfff, opinions. ME2 is the best of the three by a huge margin. Primarily due to the fact that it actually does a better job of establishing reasons to care about individual characters rather than just the clinical plot stuff.
That's the whole problem of ME2, though. In a mission of such scale that the whole universe is in peril, caring for individual characters, is a bit ridiculous. And going from a half-science/half-space-magic based story to a drama based story, with stupidity reaching new level with the

creation of the humanoid reaper.

I'll continue in spoiler in case someone has not played it yet.

The reapers have been wiping civilizations for eons and it doesn't occur to them that creating a biped reaper with opposable thumbs is better that the squid form until they meet the humans.

Or the fact the humans have been out of their home planet for mere 200 years, and they go from being looked from above, being patronized, etc to be in charge of everything. Where does the last battle happen? In earth.

The propaganda of humans > aliens just because and the deidity of a single character than can be resurrected from death (almost like Jesus) and command the whole galaxy against a huge threat is what destroyed ME2 and 3.

That only at the story level. Killing the mako, cutting exploration, adding bullets to the weapons and adding a bit more of bum and tits here and there deepened the above mentioned fails.
Basically all of what you said boils down to: things you don't like vs things you like vs. things other people like vs. things other people don't like.

There's no objectively good or bad here. We don't all want the same things from games/stories. If you don't like the thing, maybe the thing just is not for you and you can move on.
Yes, of course. But what would be of the internet if we didn't try to convince someone else that what we like is better? :P /s

Quoting: ArehandoroI have the Moonlander from ZSA, it cost me less, equally configurable, ergonomic and more portable. It would be a no brained for anyone willing to pay that money on a keyboard.
I must be blind then, because when I look up the moonlander, it's base cost is about $80 more than the Launch
Sorry, I had seen £ and not $. Still, for $80 more I believe the advantages of the Moonlander makes it worth.

I've read your post attentively and I must say I rarely saw such a distorted view of History and basic concepts
Too bad we can't sat and have a long argument over a bottle of Scotch.
It would help a lot if you could at least say why his view is distorted. It won't be the same as sitting to have the argument, but it might help the conversation.

Developed by Power Struggle Games, a French game development collective cheekily intent on dismantling Capitalism from the inside, through games and they say they're "unabashedly political".
If I buy their game, aren't I supporting capitalism? If they take my money, aren't they supporting capitalism? What's with all the hate for capitalism? It's the way for small studios like this to make something of themselves. Maybe they really mean corporate manipulation and greed which is something else entirely.
There is economy beyond capitalism. Buying goods, or selling them, does not necessarily mean you support capitalism. One could argue that video games are per se capitalist, or any other form of entertainment, but again depending what the studio does with their money, and how it's shared, might not fall into the term capitalism.

Quoting: The_Aquabatthe problem is not capitalism the problem is crony capitalism, corrupt politicians that sale their asses to lobbyst, speculation, financial bubbles, hedge funds, etc.-
There hasn't been a communist regime that has not turn into a dictatorship and exploitation of their citizens. As well as there has not been a capitalist regime that has not turned "crony". Hedge funds, speculation, financial bubbles, etc are incentivated by capitalism. So yeah, the problem is capitalism. Corruption is an endemic problem of any sort of unequal society.

My theory is that corruption is based in status and class differentiation, and bureaucracy too, where one offers money/power to someone based on the fact that a) the offerer has more money/power than the other party and b) the other party desires to reach a new status or maintain the status quo. But I might as well be wrong.

Quoting: DorritNo it isn't.
One of the fundamentals of what is called Capitalism was sound money a.k.a. gold/gold standard. That stopped in 1916 and never came back.
Capitalism went from aprox. mid XVIII century to WWI and it was wonderful. It unleashed so much wealth creation as Humanity never dreamed of. We're still benefiting today. Just.
Neo-liberalism is just another evolution of capitalism. Same practices, same flaws. And capitalism did not start in XVIII it goes back to the Italian republics and their wealthy banks before Europeans travelled to America. Which, by the way, they were mainly funded by families/banks in Geneva.

Quoting: DorritIt unleashed so much wealth creation as Humanity never dreamed of. We're still benefiting today. Just.
This deserves a quote separately. To what cost? Hundreds of species to the brink of extinction, the air we breath is diriter than ever, climate threatening to do a mass extinction, inequality and wealth concentration are worst than ever.

Stop praising a system that is going to end up killing everything in the planet. Stop thinking that capitalism is a force of nature that can't be taken account of, changed or improved.
