Linux lands on Mars with Perseverance and Ingenuity

Honest question: Has there ever been any mention on what kind of OS any of the other probes* had? I assume it was some bespoke system? Or maybe a Unix system? Maybe Windows even? xD
* Not only probes but also the Rover for example.

Quoting: EikeThere's no real question Linux already is dominating the world, from the smallest to the largest, from most people's pockets to even Mars.Technically, not the world but our Solar Systtem :D
Except one little village called desktop.

Were I Take-Two, or any other similar company, I would hire the developers. Reverse engineering is difficult and if they managed to also bring improvements and port the code to other systems other than Windows, I would be like: "Hell, work for me and let's make next GTA/Assasins/whatever even better!"

Mainly Cyberpunk 2077, and doing some side-missions on Dragon Ball Kakarot, which I finished few weeks ago. A DnD session with some friends too, even though no strictly a video game, definitely played on Linux due to the online session :D

Quoting: drlambI haven't tried it yet, too expensive. Only have experience with an MS ergo keyboard similar to the Logi you posted, and it was a delight to type with. Then I discovered mechanical keyboards and not keen going back to chiclet keys. Have been saving for a while for the Moonlander, but for now I'm using a Phantom non-ergo keyboard.Quoting: ArehandoroQuoting: minkiuHow do you like these keyboards? Did it take long to get used to them? I attempted to use one before I knew how to type properly and it was a mind bender.
I have issues typing on standard keyboards comfortably due to American football injuries to both hands. This led me to prefer chiclet keyboards over mechanical due to the low actuation force. It wasn't until I forced myself to learn to type properly that ergonomic keyboards started to "click" for me. I've now got the logitech Ergo K860 [External Link] and I love it. If this keyboard had back-lighting and the build quality of the MX keys it would be perfect in my eyes.
The open source firmware and the fact that system76 makes this keyboard makes me want it but I'm afraid it would be physically painful for me to use. Hopefully there is an ample return window as I'd really like to try it.

Hope they release a nice keyboard. Unfortunately, since I learned from the ZSA Moonlander my eyes can't look anywhere else: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/ [External Link]
However, my wallet is looking everywhere else.

Quoting: soulsourceIt is, but you had to purchase the device with Android, or from someone that installed Sailfish OS on it, and it's not supported by the vendor ;)Quoting: ArehandoroStill a long way ahead, at least another year for proper delivery, but people willing to get off Google in their smartphones could look into the Librem 5, or PinePhone if someone isn't a heavy phone user because the performance is still under par. Real Linux smartphones are around the corner, and we all know they're the future.Just saying: I'm posting from a Sony XPeria XA2, running Sailfish OS. If that's not "real Linux", then I don't know what else.

Quoting: no_information_hereI learned not to trust Google quite a while ago, but it is certainly hard for regular people to avoid its services.Yeah, the hardest for me is definitely maps. I use openstreetmaps a lot, but the commodity to search by postcode in the UK, having updated bars/restaurants (pre-Covid19) and so on makes it a must in comparison. For bike touring and hiking though, and offline maps, osmandMaps is much, much better.
