BL2's situation is embarrassing to be frank. The port from Asprey runs really well but basically it's abandoned from the looks of it. Whether thats due to Gearbox or whomever I don't know. Could be the deal/license has run out as in the case with some of feral's ports.
BL2 default must be native. Because installing it with proton will install the HD texture pack which will cause out of memory crashes. You need to manually untick that DLC for it to be stable(ish). Default experience has fewer issues although proton can run double the fps.

But this is old, at the time the Linux version didn't have yet multiplayer...
For small developers, the only opportunity they have is to use the multiplayer infrastructure from others. In this case that would be Steam or GOG Galaxy. Which means that Linux will be out of luck for the GOG version.

The Feral Vulkan ports they have been making for the last couple of years are the best ever made. Proton can't match it. So that statement is pure nonsense.

I have 32 games that are flagged unsupported. 30 of those were either VR (most) or anti-cheat.

For Steam Deck it would probably help greatly to skip the native port. Unlike the next two TR games, this one was still OpenGL and there are a couple of areas where framerate suffered greatly. This was way back when I still played on a GTX970, but I don't think it was the GPU that was the limiting factor. I have no desire to play this game again, so I won't be testing it.

If you check the "unsupported" list, you find that the bulk of it is either VR or anti-cheat.

This applies to Windows users only though. I wish LIV would work on Linux, but it's not available, neither native nor through wine/Proton.
But if the game has a freely configurable cam build in... it's possible to get something similar on screen. Beat Saber has it via the cam+/cam2 mod, Synth Riders, Boom Box and Cybrid have it built in.
But I think Ehvis said Groove Gunner has that feature on the road map too.
They practically have everything in place already. The whole auto groove cam features allows for arbitrary view points and directions and has FOV support. So I did ask whether the auto groove cam patterns where changeable by mortals, but that wasn't the case. But it would actually be as simple as storing the patterns in an xml file instead of hardcoding them. But obviously, I have no idea where that particular things sits on the todo list.

The top tier hand coordination helps, but it's not really necessary. My method is strictly based on building up muscle memory by repetition and it works. The funny thing is, that faster you get, the less tired you get. It still makes me sweat, but not nearly as much as it used to when I was still fighting for my Marksman scores. I suppose this applies to every rhythm game, the more experience you have, the more efficient you do it.

And yes, if you have a VR headset, get it! The game is awesome and the devs are awesome as well.
