The Zink driver for OpenGL over Vulkan shows good performance on NVIDIA

Edit: I suppose you agree going by your sarcasm quote. But Adobe/Autodesk weren't really the best examples for sarcasm :)

Quoting: GuestOnly games, except for small little extras like Adobe Premiere Rush, or Autodesk Fusion 360. Unimportant, I suppose. Not to burst your bubble, but games aren't important. If the ability to play games ends tomorrow, most of the world would go on if nothing happened. If the ability to use opengl ended tomorrow, the consequences would be catastrophic. Almost everything you use in daily life is in some way tied to software that uses opengl and most people haven't even heard of the programs (or the companies that make them). So no, OpenGL won't go anywhere because it's simply too important.
(end sarcasm)

Only games. There is a whole world out there that is not games and I don't see that world switching any time soon. If at all.

Since everyone is going in with Vulkan now....Only games. There is a whole world out there that is not games and I don't see that world switching any time soon. If at all.
SteamVR Overlay not working on Arch or Manjaro Linux? Here's a fix

Quoting: TermyIt appears that even Valve is not willing to put more than a minimum of effort in to support a niche of a niche. Never forget that they're a business. The current focus is the Steam Deck, which is not a realistic device for VR. I do think they still have bigger plans for the future though and if this includes something with more power, then SteamVR may become a priority.Quoting: PalancaValve is doing since last year a poor job on Linux and virtual reality.I have the very same impression sadly. I really hope that's just because they are caught up with the Deck and it will get better again when that is released and settled down.

Arch problems. Of course, for me the overlay won't show at all nine out of ten times, but at least I don't have arch problems.
Supporting Linux / Proton and the Steam Deck with BattlEye is just an email away

The tweet makes it sound like the BattlEye support is tied to the Steam client. If that's the case, I'm sure we'll have a couple of unhappy people.

Quoting: JuliusArgg... And I just bought Project Wingman on a regular sale.Still not impressed. For me this was my sixth pause in a row. At this rate, it's going to take years to get through my available months.
Still this looks like a good selection after some months of less interesting ones (which I paused).

Quoting: minidouHas Shader Pre-Caching been broken for a few weeks ? My Steam updates almost every game every day for a few MB (I figured it is shader downloading since it used to look like small updates). You probably just didn't notice. Steam used to remove the shader downloads from the list after they were done, but since the download page update they remain there.
Half-Life 2 and the episodes get a Beta with Vulkan (DXVK) and more

Quoting: BielFPsTrue. Could also be that the presence of VAC creates an additional headache.Quoting: EhvisMaybe that's the reason. Learn with the games that won't have the biggest impact before tackling the big ones.Portal 2 / Left 4 Dead 2 also have more active players than hl2, and both of them received this update before. So I don't think that's the main reason...

Quoting: Liam DaweConsidering even on Windows some users have been using DXVK to improve performance in their games, it's probably not all that difficult to slot it in.But that's just using the DLL files, so similar to proton and not dxvk native.
Quoting: BielFPsFunny they prioritized Half Life 2 series before Team Fortress 2, which has way more active players.Maybe that's the reason. Learn with the games that won't have the biggest impact before tackling the big ones.
