NVIDIA Vulkan Beta Driver 470.62.05 rolls out for Linux
8 Oct 2021 at 9:19 am UTC

Quoting: fearnflavioHave someone tested it to check if it fixes the Gsync/Freesync issue that the stable driver has?
Did the Vulkan beta have this issue to begin with?

On the nvidia forums it was mentioned that the fix will be in the next release, but it may just be the stable driver.

I'm still not sure if gsync is actually affected since all reports seem to have come from freesync (gsync compatible) users.

A refreshing change to see that when there is a big data breach, it's actually the company's own data instead of that of the users that gets stolen.

Quoting: CyrilI'm just really surprised how nobody mention that Cortana is a shit that spy on people...
Same as Google, Siri, Alexa and such. Nothing new there that is worth mentioning. At least in a game it stops listening when you quit playing.

Quoting: DerpFoxThe Index as impressive as it is in terms of tech. It was (and still is) way overpriced in the current VR market.
They can't even supply the demand, so you're obviously wrong here.

Quoting: GBGamesWhat a weird coincidence! Yesterday I happened to look at my collection of GOG games, see A Bird Story and think, "I've been meaning to play that" before realizing it was the second game they made and that I should play To the Moon first, and so I started it.

And so far I've been really enjoying it. It's very bizarre at times, and also quite touching.
I'm pretty sure Finding Paradise is the second game. A Bird's Story is a short and AFAIK not part of the To The Moon Series.
It is a little side story for Finding Paradise that was released before it. Not mandatory, but definitely related.

The thing I was curious about was how they would deal with the little 3D puzzles like the ones to open the weapon upgrade machines. But the video fades to black and comes back with an upgraded weapon.

Quoting: scaineThe "Month of the Anti-Cheat News"! Now we just need October to the "Month Devs Embraced Proton Anti-Cheat"!
You mean a month of devs switching to create games for Linux exclusively. No? Too much?

Quoting: FrawoYes, Steam Machines failed, but I'm still somewhat disappointed that a "pro consumer" company like CDPR/GOG needs financial incentives to do native Linux ports. I always thought they where striving for ideals, but now it looks like they are all about money these days.

Aren't you dissapointed in them, too? I've seen comments from you in their community wishlist.
They didn't stop for financial reasons. They stopoed because people were insulting them after Witcher II wasn't good at Linux release. Which is totally what I expect from a human and humane company: Protect their people from such behaviours. To me, it was the darkest hour of Linux gaming: We're not all nice people, like I'd like to think.
If so, then Marcin Iwinskis comment about getting into Linux ports if Steam Deck succeeds would make no sense.

I think what is hindering them is not the insults, but the Linux market share. They got so much hate for their buggy console releases of Cyberpunk 2077, will that make them stop releasing on consoles? I guess not.
Of course it wasn't. The verbal abuse from Windows users from lowering the graphics quality compared to the gameplay demo 6 months before release was much worse. Business decisions aren't made based on a few screaming children.

This driver seems to break Gsync.
The monitors mentioned in that thread aren't gsync monitors though. So I'm hoping that they only broke gsync for freesync compatible monitors. In either case, thanks for the heads up. Now I can keep an eye on it before I upgrade.
