Using the New version of Stadia+ took a few times to force 4K. I think it's safe to say I'm best-case scenario. ~10ms Latency

Red Dead

Couldn't get it to work at all yesterday. I assume they updated again today.

Quoting: EhvisThen I tried to run GRID to see if a different game would make a difference. I got 720p (with Stadia+ set to 4K). So that pretty much confirms that there is a capacity problem.

Stadia+ sometimes requires a game restart to take effect. Just last night I was playing Doom and Red Dead in 4K just fine. It's not a capacity issue. Google themselves lowered the default quality to 1080P, so be sure to increase that in the Stadia app if you're trying to play 4K.

It was already set to 4K the day before. The game before that ran in 4K. And since there was no bandwidth or latency problem, it must have been forced down on other grounds. It could obviously be different for you since we don't connect to the same datacenter.

Edit: Did another test. Even GYLT won't open beyond 1080p now. GRID won't do more than 720p. So it seems google is limiting it.
Funny enough, I started Destiny 2 and that did start in 4k, but was unplayable due to lag.

Quoting: dubigrasuYes, the values I posted varies wildly depending on the time of the day, I suppose this high internet traffic that we see these days doesn't help much. Then again, for me Netflix's speed test consistently reports 1.0 Gbps, but their server is relatively close by.

Honestly, right now I don't think internet plays a part at all. Just tried again to see if the morning was better. Dropped some frames, but only in small bursts. The lag fest was variable continuous though. Like buffered mouse inputs that get replayed a second later, but faster to keep up. Even walking forward lagged by slowing down and then catching up quickly. That last one suggest can't have anything to do with input lag because there was no change in inputs. Servers are just not keeping up.

Then I tried to run GRID to see if a different game would make a difference. I got 720p (with Stadia+ set to 4K). So that pretty much confirms that there is a capacity problem.

I had an unplayable amount of lag earlier this evening. Since latency was low and I wasn't dropping frames, it looked like the servers just couldn't up. Maybe they weren't quite ready for the free sign up.

Quoting: SystemShockHi, maybe i got that all wrong but i don't think that this is the free "1080p only" "Stadia-Base-Version" we're all waiting for.
It's only Stadia-Pro free for 2 Months.
After that it'll cost again 9,99.

pls correct me if im wrong...

Correct. But if you don't pay after two months, you'll effectively have base left as you'll still be able to access your bought games. And I highly doubt they would close the store to you after that, but current former pro owners could confirm that.

Quoting: Xpanderso its 14 countries only? where the F is the list of countries?...

I thought it might have been the countries that Stadia has released in, but that's purely a guess.

I signed up through the android app.

First opinions:
- defaults to 1080p, which looks quite bad on a 1440p screen. Installed Stadia+ to get 4K.
- Can't get the games/stadia/chromium to vsync so I get tearing.
- So far a consistent latency of 29-30 ms (as reported by Stadia+), which is pretty damn good.
- Edit: also, what on earth did they bind the menu to that is usually bound to ESC? Only managed to get there from the controller.

Anyway, need to solve the vsync thing first before I try more

They should really do something about the default game though. You start a game, default world generator, and a very quick start. Where did I end up, some sort of needle like mountain sticking out of the water. Had to make a boat to actually get anywhere at some pace. Thing I noticed is that the world was dead. No animals, no enemies, nothing happening. Also, almost everything was steep slopes and weird geometry. Took me a good while to find anything remotely resembling flat land. Since there is no danger, just go dig some for some iron. And dig. And dig. Gave up after 70 blocks down because there was nothing and this was supposed to be a quick look. Also noticed that there was no off hand to hold a torch in. But it turns out that doesn't matter because holding a torch doesn't actually provide light.

If any new person would have tried it as a random thing, they would have given up by now. It might be a good platform for mods, but the default experience is not good and not helpful in attracting new players.

If there is a chrome snap, I might give it a test run. Not really interested in the games that come with it, but still curious about the tech.

Quoting: gojulI own all the X- games but not this one. Don't trust them anymore, but well, if I see more and more good reviews why not...

You can trust them to not deliver a complete game at launch. You can also trust them to not just give up on it. And if you trust the reviews, they turned away from the Rebirth gameplay.

I suppose this is the time to start over and replay this from the beginning!

Quoting: fagnerlnDiRT4 is SO GOOD... I'm really enjoying it, even on "simulator mode" isn't frustrating as Rally. I loved Dirt 2, but didn't like dirt 3. Dirt 4 is a proper sequel to 2.
I know right, I really don't get the problem people have with DiRT 4, thought it was great fun.

Promises I suppose. The suggested that it would have an option to get the same level of physics as Dirt Rally. But that was not the case and Dirt Rally players were obviously disappointed.
