Using Linux at home during lock-down seems plausible. Combine that with a new long-term support release of Ubuntu in April 2020 (which happens only every two years). Makes it easier to choose.

1. Standing with VR controllers (most VR games)
2. Sitting with gamepad (e.g. some platformers and racing games)
3. Sitting with keyboard + mouse (e.g. some flying games)
Looks like Elite: Dangerous is a number 3 :).
Your base stations of course should be in range of your desk with keyboard + mouse.
As for the nausea. As a beginner you will get sick. The more you play, the longer you can last without getting sick. Walking with a moving environment is no problem for me anymore. However, I noticed I still have to train myself for flying (six degrees of freedom).

Quoting: PatolaHow is Elite: Dangerous even playable in VR?I have played VR three ways depending on the game:
1. Standing with VR controllers (most VR games)
2. Sitting with gamepad (e.g. some platformers and racing games)
3. Sitting with keyboard + mouse (e.g. some flying games)

Half-Life: Alyx arrives today (Linux should come later) and CS:GO gets Alyx cosmetics

The environment of Half-life: Alyx is more realistic than Boneworks, although the first person interaction in Boneworks is slightly better. The gravity gloves in Half-life: Alyx needs some getting used to, but I'm starting to like it now.
The movement of the in-game characters is also excellent. If the story continues like this during playthrough, it will exceed similar games like Boneworks and Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners.

Quoting: CorbenOkay, the level of interaction is not new, we've seen this already in Boneworks, but still, the unique Half Life universe art style... it's giving me goose bumps.Totally agree with this.

I remember I had problems with the performance of BStone on Linux two years back. However, it runs like clockwork now! I like the addition of the upscale filter so you can choose between pixelated or a more updated look.

A few months ago I tried 3dSenVR [External Link]. Totally weird to play classic games of old in a present-day virtual 3D environment, but kinda fun anyway. :)

Exhumed/PowerSlave can now be played easily with a cross-platform game engine

The GUI version immediately quits, but I don't really need it. Just like I will never need Daemon Tools anymore. :) I see that tool has become more evil the last couple of years with ads/subscriptions.

Quoting: ageresWith cdemu and its GUI gcdemu.Thanks. I have successfully mounted an NRG file using CDemu [External Link]. It pops up an audio CD shown as wave files.

Some remarks:
Looks like a crosshair in PCExhumed is in the TODO [External Link] list.
To rip music files you need the Mixed Mode CD [External Link] of Exhumed.
If you ever made a NRG file (proprietary format) of the original CD for some reason :), you can mount it in Daemon Tools (Windows) to access the audio files. Not sure how to do that in Linux though...

I would highly recommend adding the FLAC or OGG files, since the music makes the game a lot more fun to play.
Only thing I can't seem to get working is the intro movie (book.mov).
Any help? :)
