Quoting: LeopardOmg,how can you take that as Linux version is soon?

What i get from this, they didn't do literally anything.
Who said anything about soon?
Actually no,you don't.

My point is,in this situation it's pretty dead to me and i think it will never come for Linux and Mac.
Wow, you really are Mr Negative on GOL aren't you

I'm kidding, but seriously, he seems pretty clear about wanting to support us and is improving all of his tools to accommodate Linux and Mac. Still seems a pretty sure thing to me.
Yes,i am. :D

I know he is trying but he is so late actually.Even if he is eventually make it available for Linux and Mac,if a problem occurs with ports how many years we will wait?

People who doesn't matter support are already trying it with Wine.Steam's good side is one click to install and play thing.Instant play basically.

At this rate,i'm suspicious that he can provide patches or other bug fixes for Mac and Linux.

Quoting: GuestNot sure if he's trolling or if the SteamOS bit just wooshed right past him. I'll be honest, for a split second when I was at their site I did the same thing. "No linux? Oh.. steamOS, duh"
Well, if it is a trolling on my part, it is not a trolling per se. The core idea is: the game is not planned for Linux. It is planned for Valve's "SteamOS".

Quoting: slaapliedjeI was thinking the same thing; "Bro, like SteamOS... it IS Linux.."
SteamOS /= Linux

SteamOS just happens to be a small subset of Linux-based distributions. For now. And at the same time while the Linux kernel and most distributions are GPL-ed, SteamOS with its "Steam Big Picture" (or something like that) is Valve's proprietary product. What will happen when Valve replaces Linux kernel with BSD and close their product?

Don't you see the writing on the wall?
1) Valve intentionally removed Linux logo replacing it with Steam logo;
2) Steam controller is unusable without Steam;
3) Linux -> SteamOS+Linux (note the order) -> SteamOS. Silent replacement of the brand.

Gabe Newell was a Microsoft employee! I mean, that, 1992, Bill's Microsoft, not the current one. Embrace, Extend, Extinguish tactics is in his blood, I'm sure.
Omg,you sure dislike Valve don't you?

Check out Youtube trailer,it clearly says Linux at the end.

Whats wrong with SteamOS?These days most of the games only supports Ubuntu officially, but most of them also works on Arch,Fedora etc.

Again,i did the mistake guys.

Don't feed the troll.

Quoting: Alm888Guys, why do you think it will come to Linux? There are no mentions of Linux on their site.

Only Windows PC, PlayStation 4, Mac and SteamOS. No mention of Linux.
Your trolling level is so damn high!!!

Mesa has a patch from a Valve developer to help ARK Survival Evolved run on the open source drivers

Quoting: RussianNeuroMancerI don't think this is good idea. Wouldn't it will be better to ask game developers fix their engine?

I also pretty sure someday they will decide to update their engine, probably require higher OpenGL version, discover that Mesa for some reason report 3.2 to the game while support 4.5 or 4.6, they could make another workaround, instead of fixing thing right way, or straight declare Mesa as unsupported driver.
They will update their engine with Vulkan.

Quoting: TeodosioThat games is not available on Mac. However, I don't see any threads in the Steam Forum asking for when it will be available.
The GNU/Linux thread had a very large number of posts.
Anybody willing to reason on this?
My guess is because Apple's hardware limitations. There are some configurations and that's it.

If they know their hardwares are not capable of these new games at the moment, then it's normal not to be asked by Mac folks.

Quoting: LeopardPeople says "i buy games from Gog,because it's drm free",why is this such a big deal?
And why is it a small deal? By using DRM-free distributor, you vote with your wallet.
What?!

Valve doesn't point a gun in your head when buying from Steam, you vote with your wallet there too.

If you don't have a purpose like, buy drm-free game and copy them to your friends'ish thing;actually what's the point? And remember,if you do this that's not much different from piracy.

Seriously, when you buy a game from Steam or Itch;mostly you can play it without an internet connection. If you say i'm formatting my system so much and i need these files so often,Steam has a backup option for that.

Literally,i don't get the point of people say "i love drm-free."

If you're buying and using every piece of software original, then what's the point?
