Quoting: Cr1ogenif they want to force Linux games to work with Steamplay because they do not use windows directly? I think it's a step backwards in the fight that Valve has been doing for Linux users
No , with this way Valve guarentees a good gaming experience for Linux users.

Example: A Linux user bought the MotoGPX3 game ( native VP port) but performance wise game is beaten by DXVK with a big margin.

So user can use Windows version without dealing Steam on Lutris.

Valve provides you choice and says " Use what you want"

An enhanced version of the fan-made Half-Life 2: Episode 3 'Project Borealis' performance test is out

Quoting: Xpanderhmm Vulkan perf seems worse but is a lot smoother than OpenGL one.

OpenGL 1440p

Vulkan 1440p

edit: ahh now i see why, OpenGL is High instead of Ultra somehow
Minimum fps is waay better on Vulkan.

Quoting: TheRiddickIf games use vulkan then it kinda makes it real easy to port to Linux/Mac/Switch/PS4++ The only platform I know of atm that has a issue with vulkan is the xbox.... does it support vulkan? pretty sure they blacklisted it!
Guess so! Is Vulkan availlable on PS4 by now?
Xbox and PS4 doesn't support Vulkan.

Well , Valve proved that is possible to benefit existing Windows games if you have right tools. So industry interest is normal in this case.

You want to make a gaming platform but also want old and beloved games on your shiny new platform? Well , with Linux that is possible. Kudos to Wine and DXVK mostly.

Edit:Typo

For those wanting to try out Steam Play, the new Humble Monthly has Yakuza 0

Quoting: LinasI am starting to regret getting the annual subscription. Last month was a pass for me, and this one also seems weak. The combination of missing Linux highlights, inclusion of games from Origin and other closed platforms, and a bunch of duplicates I have been getting lately, makes me think that I will not renew my subscription once this one runs out.
You can give Yakuza 0 to me :P

Joking aside ; give SteamPlay a chance. I'm already into 20+hours in Witcher and it just works perfect.

Quoting: PatolaIf steam play counts, Nuuvem still has for a few hours The Best GTA V Bundle ever [External Link] and Shadow of War: Definitive Edition that run fine under proton.
Activation: Rockstar Games Social Club

I assume that key is not meant for Steam.

Steam Play is great for a younger audience with games like LEGO Jurassic World

Quoting: LeopardSteam Sale is a dissappointment generally. There are so less discounts on games that i'm interested.
Do you mean too small discounts or too few games discounted?

Of the 48 (relased) games on my wish list, only 5 don't have a discount, and it wouldn't surprise me if the developers/publishers of those are gone.
Small discount rates mostly.

I'm sure Bethesda and Rockstar are still alive.

If Epic Store will be coming to Linux ( which i don't think so ) without a Proton like solution it would mean nothing.
