Quoting: stretch611As for piracy...

It would be nice to avoid it, but sadly human nature is ugly.

With all the technical people that use linux... and the majority of linux users do have technical backgrounds. It is pretty much biting off the hands that feeds us. And with the amount of public domain and open source programs including games, it is sad that it still happens in this community.
At least i will speak to my behalf.

I do piracy. But how and which products that i use cracked versions?

Not Linux supported ones. I think paying for a product that not support Linux is abysmal to my usage case. I try to run them via Wine , sometime with success , sometimes not.

I'm buying every product legally , which supports Linux.

Paying for a product is equal to me , expecting support. Since i can't expect support for a title i ran through Wine ; i'm not buying them.

If someday they start to support Linux , i will gladly buy them too. But until then , no Tux no bucks. Since running that piece of software is not guarenteed , therefore i don't need to pay.

Quoting: LeopardYes , Hitman is the most recent example. It is drm free. It doesn't need any internet connection for playing game.

Ah , if you are one of the people who saying " When a game is on Steam , it is not drm free no matter what ; because Steam is drm and you need to use Steam for games " , then i must say also GOG is drm. Because you also need account for purchasing and downloading games from there , naturally.
You're wrong about Hitman, you need a constant connection to get everything in the game, without a connection only the main campaign is accessible. It doesn't even save your progress without a connection.
No , it saves.
You can't get elusive targets of course , they're one time run missions and they have a leaderboard like a competitive game around the globe.

Quoting: jensWhat issue did you encounter with DE-Mankind Devided on Steam? I bought it there including all DLC's and it's imho a very cool game, with fitting hardware even quite an astonishing experience.
I haven't bought DXMD. It would have been an almost guaranteed purchase though, if not for Square Enix's prior dickery.

First the terrible state of the DXHR Director's Cut. To this day it still has many bugs that were either not present in the original release or were present initially and then fixed - they promised a second patch to fix the outstanding issues, but then it was delayed, and then they just went silent on it and it soon became clear that it'll never happen. In addition the DC actually looks a lot worse than the original release, with lots of missing textures and effects and much worse LOD scaling. And yet, somehow it uses up almost twice as much disk space as the original release + separate Missing Link DLC.

And then there's Square Enix's love of DRM. Thankfully Denuvo doesn't support Linux (and I hope it never will).

There was also the ridiculous pre-order scheme they attempted with DXMD [External Link], which they were forced to drop due to the backlash it caused.

Also while it didn't affect me personally because I've never bought anything there, they also pulled DRM-free downloads from their own store with no warning [External Link].

I'd be very interested to know if any of them actually are DRM-free.

Quoting: adamhmIt's a shame about Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. I'm a huge fan of the Deus Ex series & really liked DXHR, but Square Enix have pulled too many dick moves for me to consider buying anything of theirs that isn't on GOG.

Looks like he is talking being non Drm free. Afaik , Feral's ports are Drm free mostly.

Well , first person shooter games needs to be good at FPS wise. From this list ; i can say that Bioshock Infinite has pretty poor performance.

Although Metro series and Cs:GO running very good on Linux. I didn't try others yet.

For the Wine side ; Doom 2016 runs fantastic with Vulkan. I wish that would be native too.

What have you been playing and what do you think?
8 Oct 2017 at 3:36 pm UTC

I played Doom 2016 via Wine 2.18 with Vulkan , that is such a good game. Shame that there is not a native Linux version out there.

Also played Cs:Go , Dota 2 and Bioshock Infinite.

Hell , Bioshock's performance was so poor.

RUINER for Linux is now officially on hold (UPDATED)

That smiley ;) and Take Care is pretty insulty.

We need an honest and having a " well known games catalogue " AAA company.

Until that , we need to get along with that kind of insults.

Quoting: razing32I'll buy it when all episodes are out and IF it truly works on Linux. :P
Agreed. When a Linux port is a 'stretch goal', it is never made a priority. As much as I would love to back this game, I can't. I'll wait until there is an actual Linux version for sale. (Still fuming about Carmageddon - First backed project on KS).
Well , if you look closely you can see that also PS4 and Xbox versions are stretch goals.

I won't buy it until it officially released.

I hope it performs well with GTX 1050.
