Quoting: gabberTell that to people who go on VR vacations instead of flying - that's a very simple and significant environmental benefit from gaming.Quoting: ArehandoroBecause gaming is more pointless then mining...Quoting: gabberCare to elaborate why?Quoting: ArehandoroMining is an environmental disaster.Funny reading this on a website called "gamingonlinux".

a system to allow you to save during expeditionsThat will be very welcome by both me and my family - right now the expedition ends if you close the game, and a Slay the Spire system where you resume on the current tile will be much better.
a deck of traits you can gain from beating bosses will be addedI've only beaten the first boss once, but it did give me an extra resurrection. Haven't played much since, so I don't know if it's for that expedition only.

We don't know how often the mining detector will have false positive detections, massively decreasing the performance of a game because its shaders look similar to mining. You might be able to get through to Nvidia if you're a massive studio, but indie games will fall victim to this, with no recourse except screaming on Twitter. It's basically a matter of time.
TLDR: Don't give Nvidia positive PR for showing off how anticonsumer they are.

However, NVIDIA are trying to cut down on crypto miners using standard GPUs by limiting the hash rate of the cards through a mix of a "secure handshake between the driver, the RTX 3060 silicon, and the BIOS (firmware) that prevents removal of the hash rate limiter" (source) plus dedicated cards for miners. So hopefully in future we will see more cards available for standard consumers and gamers.Wrong. Nvidia are highlighting why closed source software cannot be trusted, by releasing a driver that will purposefully kneecap performance to promote market segmentation. The fact they're making a line of GPUs specifically for mining is proof enough it has nothing to do with consumer GPU availability. This will have a deliberate, unspoken side effect of making it even harder for the open source nouveau drivers to support the card in any capacity. Even if you don't care about the increased corporate control angle, there is another one:

I've been trying to buy a laptop with a Ryzen 4700U CPU, 16 GB of Ram and at least 3 USB ports for over a month now. They're sold out everywhere - Lenovo E14 Gen 2 has been "coming soon" for 3 months now, HP ProBook 455 G7 isn't even visible on HPs website anymore... The only laptops with Ryzen 4700U CPUs available come with a single USB port, which just won't cut it.
Maybe I'll be able to buy the Pangolin.

NVIDIA plan to support Linux with GeForce NOW using Chrome

Quoting: elmapulThere is also the issue of automated browser testing being Chrome-first. Firefox is usually an afterthought, and although it works well in older systems, like Selenium, some newer ones don't support it.Quoting: WildCoderWhy chrome only? I would much rather they let Firefox work instead of having to spoof my user-agent string.one of 3 reasons.
1)the Q/A is hard and since chrome is the most used browser, and every other browser (except firefox) is based on chromium, they are starting by that.
2)firefox dont support their video encoding formats...
3)some money exchanging hands

Quoting: iiariI'd assume Firefox is still leanest on memory, or maybe GNOME Epiphany. While I wouldn't count on all websites working with Epiphany, I seem to remember it being leaner on memory... and features.Quoting: PikoloThat's actually a project I contributed to, a few years back :grin:If you were involved in ICE, then thank you, as I've already been using it for a while to put together WebApps.
Does anyone know what approach has the lowest memory overhead? Choosing Electron, vs Chrome, vs Firefox as the app wrapper?

Quoting: NeoTheFoxI really liked this extension so far!Flavour wise, I agree. Mechanics wise, Driven Assimilators are the necroid hive mind
Always wanted a Necron-esque additon to the universe, but what really upsets me is that the Necroids can't be a hivemind - that's really unfortunate, since playing as a parasite would be really cool.

wpa_supplicant works with EAP, at least for eduroam(the worldwide federated university WiFi network). At least when used through network manager, unless Ubuntu has something hardwired to take care of that edge case
