Please note that I used Steam Play in my answer, not Proton. I agree that the question about wine needs some clarification. Something in the line of:
- Do you use Wine (excluding Proton via SteamPlay)?
- Do you use Steam Play?

Seems that Liam will add a separate question for Steam Play (https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/reminder-update-your-pc-info-for-the-next-round-of-statistics-updates.13034/comment_id=141516 [External Link]).Liam said, that it means that question about Wine will include Proton then, so it should be "Yes" to the first question.
I.e. the first question is about the tool (Wine and derivatives). The second question is about Steam Play specifically (Steam feature).
If that's too confusing, it's better just to stick with one question about Wine.

Quoting: cprnOkay, I'm not going to read all that, sorry. Please stay with "No". Seems that Liam will add a separate question for Steam Play (https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/reminder-update-your-pc-info-for-the-next-round-of-statistics-updates.13034/comment_id=141516 [External Link]).
Please, reward my ignorance and simply answer the question:
Do I update my answer from "no" to "yes" next to the question about wine if I play games through Steam Play (no wine, no Proton)?

Quoting: TheSyldatOr in my case, want to make sure that purchases are seen as Linux purchases. The click-and-play experience is "just" the second best reason for me to prefer SteamPlay over wine. ;)Quoting: dubigrasuI do think there should be some distinction between Steam's Proton and vanilla Wine, regardless the connection between the two.Pretty much one if not THE big reason why we should divide both use and clearly ask separately about them.
I would be interested to know how many people are ready to accept the lower-effort Proton way, but still don't wanna bother with Wine for example.
It'll give indications to how many people are willing to take the time to fiddle with wine , versus people who just want a single click play solution that "just work"...

It is really a game you have to learn and understand. I don't think that I'll finish this game, I don't have the time for that, but I get to understand why this game has such a big fan base.

Quoting: robvvI can't even get past the first boss in Dark Souls III. Clearly I am useless :-)Yeah, same here, it took me more than a week and quite some youtube films or so to get passed. Hint: Stay close to him :)

Quoting: Whitewolfe80Good its the best game suggested that it could be and its great that we get the full trilogy. I do wish they didnt bother with the guessing game and just said Feral is proud to annouce "insert game title" is coming to linux "eta". Maybe i am wrong and people like it but its just get hopes up for games its never going to be.From my understanding Feral announces as soon as possible. The guessing game is a way to give at least some clues to the outside world while they are contractually not yet allowed to announce.

Really really cool to see the confirmation! I really love the first two parts of the franchise reboot and having this series soon complete on Linux is just wonderful. This will be a first-day-full-price-purchase from Feral store.

Quoting: YoRHa-2BKind of obvious that this is SotTR. On the one hand I'm happy because it's a great game, on the other hand it makes me kind of sad that they weren't even able to announce it when the game launched, especially since it's playable on Proton.Yes. I remember Feral gets their share once a game is announced. I somehow hope that all Steam purchases that count for Linux, thus including bought for Steam Play/Proton, are retrospectively* effective for their share so that porting stays lucrative for them. But dunno...
