Albion Online set to expand with some large updates planned

I was so excited for Albion and enjoyed the beta, but now that they've launched, I'm already pretty burnt out by the game. Progression is slower due to the number of people harvesting, and everyone who actually enjoys the game is in a big guild focused on blackzone zergs. Which I couldn't care less about.
A lot of the markets are horribly saturated too, which makes progression via farming (either farming in dungeons, or farming on your island - "real" farming) pretty lacklustre. During the beta, I was making good money doing that, but now I just really horde everything because there's no point putting it on the market.
It all feels like a grind. I haven't played in over two weeks. Even worse, of course, is that my founder "premium" status is being wasted as a result. If I do decide to dip my toes in again later, I'd probably have to buy gold again to get the most out of it... but I'm not likely to do so, given that unless they add more PVE content, I'm not likely to stick with it.
It's all just extremely disappointing.

Sounds like Killing Floor 2 won't come to Linux any time soon

Glad I was sitting down when I read this... not. Like h54, I'd long removed it from my wishlist.
It's also extremely disingenuous of them to restrict their Steam forum posts to only those people who have bought the game. I lost faith in Tripwire when they did that, also locking various Linux threads after announcing that their one and only Linux engineer had moved on, but it was "still in their plans". No, it's really not.
Loved Killing Floor 1 as well. Probably about 125 hours in Windows, and then the same again in Linux - it's my second top played game of all time. To be cut off from the sequel hurts, even if it does get terrible reviews for all the micro transactions they introduced. After all, it's not like KF1 didn't have them either - Tripwire love their DLC-hell. I would still have bought KF2 if they'd followed through on their 2014 announcement promises.
But tux first, then bucks.

There's now a Linux version of ASTROKILL on Steam as promised

Wishlisted this, but I'm not keen on buying Early Access games. This game says it'll be in early access for 'a few months', but was released in May 2016. Like, a few shouldn't really mean 15.
But it's really cheap and there seems to be a fair bit of content already.
Just wish they'd either pull the trigger on release, or update their EA statement to be more realistic.

The developers of 'Darkwood' have put up a free torrent if you can't afford to buy it

Quoting: appetrosyanMassive respect, but also, there has to be another way.Pretty sure the people they're targeting with this would probably be on those torrent sites to get a cracked copy. This is a useful, pain-free method of addressing the issue. Well, apart from the fact that the UK blocks torrent sites, I suppose. VPNs for the win.
What about a "pay what you want strategy"? I'm sure Steam could accommodate that, if not, at least, why not put it up on GOG.com. Why a torrent site?

Quoting: DribbleondoBut he wasn't talking about the price, I thought? I understood him to be referring to Steam's lack of support for his credit card.Quoting: chancho_zombieDevelopers like to point the finger on users. But this is actually a steam problem, steam is suppose to by the solution for the middle-man problem. If there is something I learned from reading the linux kernel mailing list, is that you never take it on users.How...how is this a Steam problem? The devs set the price, not Valve.

Quoting: chancho_zombieafter trying with a second visa debit card, over steam, it finally worked!! you are right @Comandante Ñoñardo, debit cards work!! but not all of them.Since you mention Paypal, have you considered buying steam wallet codes directly from them? I don't think there's any mark up and it was a great way to give my kids wallet money when they're too young for credit cards.

I gave up on it because a) a bad commander means losing, no matter how well you play and b) I didn't understand the mechanics of a lot of what was going on, so couldn't make good decisions about how to play well. The learning curve just seems to keep going through the roof! Might try it again later.

Bloody hell! I got the "Courage" result for dying in that godforsaken room. I thought eventually that I could die in phases, then use my dead arms to jump across. Yeah, that didn't work...

I never tried that???????Quoting: scaine(I'm looking at a door with a bunch of low-level lasers covering it, but the switch is down a corridor of water - touch the water, you die. I'm about 20 minutes in and stuck in the third or fourth room. No idea what to do. You can't rebind keys and there's no introduction or tutorial, so I don't even know if I'm missing some kind of core mechanic that has to be uncovered by experimentation?
(I'm looking at a door with a bunch of low-level lasers covering it, but the switch is down a corridor of water - touch the water, you die. Totally stumped, and for a quid, I'm not inclined to spend too long fretting about it.)
However, I have to say, it's just not fun. The total lack of any kind of theme, story, or direction is pretty off-putting. It's pretty, but completely experimental.
Like I say, it's a quid, so whatever, but it's not something I'd actually recommend! I'd rather spend fifteen times as much and buy Antichamber instead - better puzzles, better graphics, better atmosphere and a vague, surreal storyline to urge you along.
