Quoting: MohandevirI just wish that this lawsuit is what's holding back Valve from releasing a Steam Controller V2.
Oh, the new controller has a screen and cpu / gpu combo and an ssd, and you can even play games on it. :D :D :D

Quoting: detroutWas it patent trolls that took the steam controller off the market, and not poor sales?
Sales would be my guess, combined with mixed reviews and poor support.
Support in what sense? The beauty of the Steam Controller is that it did not need support from any company but Valve.
Also they supported the device quite well post launch with software updates. I have even seen some anecdotal mentions that Valve was very good about replacing defective parts.

Wine 6.16 is out now with initial HID-based joystick backend work

So this means what? Is my Thrustmaster Pendular Rudder Pedals finally recognized in Wine games? If so, when will it show up in Proton? Any info on that?
If not... well, hopefully I'll be able to seriously use helicopters in Arma3 with rotolib (or be able to have all my controls available in take on helicopters) before i die.... currently one of the few things remaining not working on linux for me...
Current Proton Experimental is on wine 6.3 so it might take a while. Proton-GE should have it soon though.

NVIDIA DLSS for Proton + Linux with DirectX 11 / 12 lands in September

Quoting: ridgeSo, does anyone know if this can be implemented in "vanilla" Wine as well, or is it only a Proton thing? I don't want to use Steam, and some of my games such as No Man's Sky does indeed support DLSS.
It should, since the bulk of the work is for vkd3d-proton which you can use in lutris/tkg/wine-ge/vanilla wine etc

Sadly the FFXIV Launcher fix is for the old launcher. The new one is still not working and its only a matter of time before support for the old one ends.

Zorin OS 16 Pro brings a little Windows 11 flavour to Linux

Quoting: Guestwhat's the point of providing a windows 11 layout? Not even windows users want that. The first thing I see them doing is to try to find the setting to put it back in the corner.

Other than that, Zorin and Deepin are the most user-friendly distros out there. Well, Deepin used to be when I last tried it, at least.
Yeah but deepin is suspect at best i just do not trust a chinese distro its probably fine and my paranoia but no it would be the same as installing red star linux (the offical north korean linux distro) the sheer amount of monitoring software on that thing with every website apart from the state news webpage blocked
You can run a Deepin desktop without the Deepin distro.

Seems the Valve Steam Deck has been impressing people with some hands-on time

Windows also uses an obscene amount of hard drive space, which is definitely an issue on this device.

The demo units had about 30 games installed on them, all of them either Valve games or games from what they call "partners". I would love to see a list of those games to see which big publishers are among those partners.
