An interview with the developer of DXVK, part of what makes Valve's Steam Play tick
12 Sep 2018 at 9:08 am UTC

@YoRHa-2B I have a question for you, if you are still around.

One of the games on the first whitelist is "The Last Remnant". a game which is no longer for sale on Steam. I'm guessing they stopped due to the PS4 launch and Sony being jerks. What's interesting is that the discontinuation of sale was announced before the Steam Play whitelist was declared.

Was this game chosen for whitelist on purpose because it's being discontinued?

My speculatron says this makes sense, because presumably this also means that the game will stop getting updates, and very possibly will stop working on Windows in future, but it will carry on working on Linux/Proton.

Quoting: EhvisI have to say that all the Borderlands games have a huge amount of replayability, without needing any "procedural generation" stuff.
I suppose it does still have procedural guns.

The Linux Civilization VI patch with cross-platform multiplayer hit a bug, going back to approvals this week

Quoting: TheBardThey are pushing windows developpers to use cross-platform technologies such as Vulkan.
I don't know why devs don't already. Vulkan is required for the super popular Nintendo Switch, so even if their mainline is Xbone/PS4, surely they should all at least have a bit of Vulkan going on the side.

Feral Interactive are teasing a brand new native Linux port

With people now being able to buy and play (many) Windows games on Steam so easily, these teasers are not going to do Feral any favours.

Feral - just say what the port is so people know whether to wait.

Many of us make a point of buying in such a way that the porter is guaranteed to get something out of it. If we buy a non-native game now, sure it gets flagged as a Linux sale to the publisher, but when a native port comes out later, Feral get nothing out of it.

Re the banning. I can also confirm that at least Overwatch has no problem with that. Plus it runs great.

What are you playing this weekend?

Since Overwatch is having a free weekend, I thought it a good opportunity to give DXVK a spin. It works rather well. I'm impressed.

Ahh yes, confirmation bias.

No, when a crowdfunded project fails to deliver, it's not a negative on the whole concept. Personally I have had very few crowdfunding disappointments.

That said "We’re going to cut this feature" ?? Seriously, an entire platform for which you had a stretch goal is a "feature"? An fov slider is a feature. A button that spawns a dozen dancing gnomes is a feature. A port is not a "feature".

Yes! You and 49 other people all play the demo separately and the last one to get bored and leave is the winner.
