BTW, the game feels quite different in the controls. Maybe they switched the engine?

I do wish they would look to speed up the loading time. Seems to always take forever to load to the menu on Linux. How long does it takes to load for you? I recall having slow downs from time to time (maybe taking 30s?), but 90% of the time the main menu loads in around 15s (if not less).

I suggest you to take a look on the statistics: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/users/statistics
And research a little bit more about this project: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=Zink-Working-On-NVIDIA-Linux [External Link]

Quoting: FredrikIf I understand it right, its only for AMD, so useless for the majority of Linux gamers since most run nvidia.I will never understand why there is so much bias regarding Mesa.

Quoting: PublicNuisanceDoes this developer accept donations ? I couldn't see any place to give them money but find this project worth it.Valve takes care of that. We may be able to indirectly donate when buying Steam stuff though.

Zink Vulkan driver Suballocator lands in Mesa, certain games get 'over 1000%' more FPS

Deus Ex & Hitman are both OpenGL titles. If this isn't fast, then I'm not sure what you define as "fast" for OpenGL.

Quoting: ArdjeThere is no fast opensource opengl implementation for AMD. And the closed ones suck. You may want to take a look on some benchs before saying such thing: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=gpus-feb-2021&num=2 [External Link] https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=gpus-feb-2021&num=3 [External Link]

s&box from Facepunch 'works great' on the Steam Deck but no native Linux plans

Still, I suggest to stay away of whatever Facepunch produces. There are way better game devs out there that, even when not supporting Linux, don't throw shit to our community at least.

Quoting: LanzI wouldn't buy any Facepunch game. No reason to support a studio that is openly hostile to non-proprietary operating systems.Fun fact: As Gary feels pointless to give us proper support he definitely doesn't want our money. So if you ever want to test this game, just grab and play the "demo", he won't mind at all.

It will be a lot of fun to see Windows only users switch to the desktop, open the start menu and discover that they can get what they are looking for when they do a search.
The Valve Steam Deck, lots of excitement and plenty to think about for Linux gaming

Quoting: PhiladelphusTook a bit over an hour and a half, but I've got my reservation in! I assume the fact that the Steam servers were up and down for so long indicates a healthy interest. I hope Valve releases some numbers on reservations next week so we can get an idea of actual numbers. While obviously not 100% of reservations will turn into purchases for various reasons, the $5 price should at least do a decent job of limiting it to serious potential buyers; combined with the one-per-Steam-account limit should give a relatively accurate figure for number of people (especially for the reservations in the first 48 hours, since anyone making multiple accounts at this point to try to scalp units won't be able to order it until afterwards).Don't forget that a lot of people have multiple accounts. It would not surprise me that we will have enough a good number of scalpers even with these countermeasures, people is quite greedy and steam accounts black market is expected at this point.

Quoting: HerrLangeWow, there seems to be lots of reservations ongoing. It took me quite a while to put a reservation and go through the payment process. I'm wondering how many people put a preorder. Must be really lots...Meanwhile here I am with my job vpn wishing I could hit the reserve button...
Funfact, in the order fulfillment screen they show this "game" is only supported for running on windows. Well...
