Valve has formally announced the Steam Deck, a portable handheld console with SteamOS

Oh crud. Not available in my region it says.
But honestly at that price point I can't get anything else as powerful that's a whole PC. So I'd buy it with very little consideration.

Talking point: what have you been playing recently?

My son is playing Factorio with me. It's the first computer game he actually enjoys :-)
Been playing that, and pretty much only that the last two months!

At least Dell provides updates for most of their notebooks, other manufacturers like MSI rarely even has one update.

This time Intel just rebadged a Mediatek 5G modem. I don't expect it to actually work as advertised if I have to go by a mediatek based device I had previously.

If such a device comes out, the Van Gogh APU seems well suited. Leaks all point it having a weaker CPU (4-core) than the current Renoir CPU's, but has a stronger GPU (RDNA2). All in a 9-15W TDP, so should be easy to cool as well.

Considering how well a Renoir notebook can play heavy games, couple this with a 720p or 800p display, and you'd get something that could play so many games so well, and be about the size of the nintendo device.

Of course, we can only hope it's BOTH a new steam controller AND a portable gaming unit.

My new notebook just came back from repairs (call it a DoA, they had to replace the motherboard)
I think it would meet the "Recommended" spec (which is pretty high performance) with its RX 5600M (Which is a downclocked RX 5600XT, so I'm hoping its at least 5500XT equivalent).

Just in time.

assuming its the same arch as what's in tiger lake, we know it will perform pretty much exactly that fast.
less cu's more clockspeed and bandwidth.

So, maybe 10% faster than Renoir integrated graphics.
I think a nvidia mx450 competitor.
