I will totally try the demo and in general love oldschool FPS - my post was more a general mini-rant about repeated trends in artstyle and not directly targeted at selaco. Should have made that more clear i guess ^^

Quoting: NexxticCalling them lazy is disrespectful, in my opinion. It wasn't meant to be disrespectful, sorry for that! I guess my wording wasn't perfect - I'm aware that sprites can be a whole lot of work, it's just that (at least thats my impression) sprites seem to be THE current way of "doing retro" and it feels "lazy" to jump on the bandwagon and go with it. That doesn't mean it's a bad game or no work is put into it (i love project warlock and poke around GZDoom now and then, so i'm not totally against this ^^), it's just that i tend to get "fed up" with trends like straight pixel art, low poly or sprites if the games don't put a "new spin" on it. That can be something like kingdom: two crowns combining pixel art with modern reflections or like selaco seemingly including above average amount of anmiation-steps. Of course some things are more noticable than others and videos often doesn't do it justice, but it can quickly feel like "more of the same". Project Warlock or Ion Fury are great games with a lot of attention to detail - but the first impression (at least graphically) isn't blowing me away so to speak.

i'm really not too big of a fan of the resurgence of sprite enemy models. It can be cool if it gets a modern treatment like for example with prodeus, but most of the time, it just looks lazy to me and could as well be some GZDoom-Wad...
Sorry Arch (EndeavourOS), it's not working out any more and hello Fedora

Quoting: CybolicIn my experience, as long as one stays away from the bells-n-whistles DEs like Gnome/KDE/Plasma, it's extremely rare for things to break on Arch. The only thing i had breaking in the year or so i'm using arch now was a pipewire bug with audio-devices that promote multiple sinks (in my case my Astro A50 with its game- and chat- sink). KDE (and the rest of Arch) has been rock solid for me, even more so than Manjaro ^^

Quoting: ShabbyXI work on open source, and it's rare to see insults from random people. Release it, and ignore trolls if any. If your project is not successful, there isn't any reason for trolls to attack it, and if it _is_ successful, well you always know the majority of people are happy with it.That highly depends - for software that is usually used by people with at least some level of pc knowledge, i agree - but when you look at for example the review-pages of some firefox-addons or other stuff of that storts, you'll see derogatory comments more often than you would expect unfortunately...

How's the native client going nowadays? Haven't played it in a long time since EAC got introduced and back then the native client was more or less useless.
