This update and the sale on steam tempted me into buying it. Ive spent a couple hours on it so far and like it. The light shaders over the c64 pallet look good. There are about 7 different CRT filters or none if you prefer. Runs great on the steamdeck and desktop. On the deck, I only changed the right trackpad control to 'as joystick'. Good story so far, keeping me interested. The game sychs saves via steam which has made playing on deck and switching to a desktop or laptop seamless.

Related to Liam's earlier note about steam being a service, Ill bring up this old quote from a 2011 interview with Gabe:
I think its pretty cool how valve has resisted a 'game pass' despite my earlier thoughts to the contrary.
I think maybe I'll go archive some stuff to dvd, just in case.
"We think there is a fundamental misconception about piracy. Piracy is almost always a service problem and not a pricing problem," he said. "If a pirate offers a product anywhere in the world, 24 x 7, purchasable from the convenience of your personal computer, and the legal provider says the product is region-locked, will come to your country 3 months after the US release, and can only be purchased at a brick and mortar store, then the pirate's service is more valuable."https://web.archive.org/web/20120308002030/http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/114391-Valves-Gabe-Newell-Says-Piracy-Is-a-Service-Problem [External Link]

Quoting: ExpandingManI'm a fan of this developer because of Star Traders Frontiers, which was a very interesting game that they put an amazing amount of work into even years after its release. It's the only spaceship-based RPG that I'm aware with the style and depth of a tabletop RPG. I have about 100 hours in it and enjoyed it, but I felt that the game did a particularly bad job of presenting information about the game mechanics (e.g. I can't tell you how many times I had to look up dice rules) which really held it back. I could easily see myself spending 500 hours in it over the years if the presentation were a lot more polished.I agree, a very nice game that could communicate whats going on better. I'm rooting for this developer and plan to pick up Cyber Knights.

If it connects to the internet, its better to be safe than sorry. I'll accept the performance hit. Will be interested to see the magnitude.

I think you effectively pay less for a Deck that recieved extra QA. They're warrantied the same as a new one, right? Why not buy one at a discount?
