Not Actually A DOS Game looks like a retro delight

I thought the name was odd considering the type of game. Reading this intro on the website reveals the problem:
Not Actually A DOS Game takes the visuals of Rogue and other DOS/C64 classics and spices them up with modern game mechanics and approachability.
Sooo..they think rogue came from DOS do they?

Both Darkside Detective games are on sale and both are an absolute blast to play. The humor is witty and fun and they don't beat you over the head with it. Pacing is good for each episode, I didn't feel that any where drawn out.
The final bonus episode (free) for A Fumble in the Dark will be released tomorrow evening (Christmas Eve).

I put a couple hours into the story mode of this game but I found that the lack of resources, difficulty hunting and a few other things made it cross over from "challenging" to "not fun/tedious" for me. I normally love open world survival games like this and I want to like this one but...I just couldn't get excited about it once I actually started playing; I certainly went into it with a lot of excitement due mostly to their outstanding trailer. Maybe I should give Survival Mode a shot? Or is this one of those games where the whole point is it's brutal difficulty?

Quoting: slaapliedjeSweet, a utility for Linux to turn off all the RGB on the motherboard :)What motherboard are you using that doesn't let you just turn it off in the BIOS? You don't need a utility for that.

I'm also leaning towards them "not being good at game development" here for most of the reasons already mentioned. This game garnered a ton of interest due to the theme and general idea behind the gameplay. I mean, it just sounds fun. The execution of that idea appears to have been bad from the start, however. I get that it's (sadly) become acceptable behavior in the industry to release beta-quality games as a final release and then just fix all the issues with successive patches but it looks like this game just never got any better, according to reviews and critics. Like others here, I've checked in with it occasionally to see if the gameplay had improved to the point of being worthy of a purchase. Sadly, that just never happened. I think we're just seeing the first steps of them abandoning this game and moving on to other things at this point.
I really wanted this game to succeed but I don't have any confidence of that ever happening now, regardless of platform. Time to remove it from the wishlist.
Travellers Rest [External Link] is another I've been watching which is in the same vein as Crossroads. It's still in EA but has very good reviews and looks like the gameplay is quite fun from what I've watched and read. Unfortunately, it's only showing Windows as a supported platform currently. Due to the somewhat low-tech nature of it, I'd expect it to work well on Proton/Wine. The other (minor) strike against this one, for me at least, is that the graphics are more JRPG-style. Not really that big of a deal but I much preferred the graphics style of Crossroads.

Yeah, very happy to see Hellfire support. I played their last major release in a web browser they (or someone?) was hosting and it ran great on Chrome/Ubuntu.

This was the update I was waiting for since it included the patch to finally recognize the dock for my Viper wireless. Only the colors work right now but hoping they will add battery level information in the future.

Huh. I don't get the attraction to this at all. Maybe it's one of those types of games that looks boring on the outside but is actually fun once you get into it? I guess I'm just not the target audience.
