After picking up Factorio based on some users high praise of it, I have ended up putting way more hours into it than I thought possible. Here’s some thoughts on it.

Starbound was already a huge and interesting game, and now they have released another massive update. With new combat, vehicles, new unique monsters and more.
I absolutely love Starbound, but it's one game I keep having to remind myself to wait for the full release. It's going to be awesome, and I'm glad I've been waiting after they have revealed some plans.

Starbound is a fantastic game, and the stable update has been long overdue, but that wait ends right now. The stable update is absolutely massive, and it's really worth trying out.
It's not secret that Starbound hasn't updated their "stable" branch for a while, but that is going to end early next year with lots to come. The new trailer has me very excited.
