AMD announced "Zen 4" with Ryzen 7000 series, RDNA3 teased

Quoting: mr-victoryMin 6 cores? Isn't there an entry model or something?
6 cores is entry model… They do 6 cores [External Link] and 8 cores [External Link] since more than a decade (here, the linked models are from 2011).

What is more problematic is that a 6 core CPU from AMD like the FX-6100 was costing $165 at introduction with 95W TDP while now the Ryzen 5 7600X is $299 with 105W. They can definitely produce some more-entry-level CPUs (probably released later?), they just have no reason to make them having less than 6 cores.

If I'm right even the 6 core FX-6100 from 2011 was in fact produced with 8 cores with 2 being disabled… Producing a CPU with less than 6 cores in 2022 is probably requiring a specific production process that would skyrocket their price for no benefit… the less costly solution to produce CPUs with less than 6 cores in 2022 is probably to produce the cores and to disable them. Better keep them enabled if they work.
I can get a CPU good enough for many things for 50 Euros from Intel, 2 cores, released in 2022 ("G6900T").
I'd buy such a thing e.g. for my HTPC if the last one gives up.
Dunno why AMD shouldn't be able to make something similar.

Quoting: EikeYou need some more patience, though. Five days later, I'm still at "Mailing starts in a short time" (sorry for the translation, what would that be in real English?).
Huh? If you get the email, you can purchase right? If you translated from a Nordic language I can try to translate.
You can send them the money immediately, yes, but shipping (the start of the shipping) takes some more days. I just wanted to look up the English and German text, but found it changed to "Shipped on 30 Aug, 2022 - Tracking". :) So, it was five days for me before the parcel went on its way. (I remember similar with the Steam Controller back then.)

*edit* Ah, so "shipping" would have been more clear, not "mailing", I guess.

So AMD is not doing big and little cores, like Intel does?

Quoting: F.UltraIf they don't provide a service, why do you think that dev houses uses them for publishing of their games?
Why do people all around the world choose to get exploited every day working under unfair conditions? Because they can't really choose! Your childlike vision of the gaming industry, and to an extent of the whole society we live in, is so sad...
I agree with the first two phrases but dislike the last one.
(To what I can remember, it's especially incorrect for F.Ultra, BTW.)

Quoting: scaineThat's not the case for me. My 2Tb NVME is mounted in /mnt/scaine and I symlink it with ~/Games.
I was always under the impression that they had to be on the same drive as OS, as tried to have separated drive formatted to NTFS and then Steam kept on showing read errors, saying it cannot read the drive. What is the recommended Format for Proton games being on separate drive?
Any format well supported by Linux, totally not NTFS. Ext4 if you're unsure.

You can get Shadow of Mordor, Shadow of War and more in this bundle

I would have overlooked this bundle if the commenters wouldn't have mentioned the Lego games. Bought all of it, mainly for the little ones. They're playing Lego the Movie - The Game (What a title!?!) now as their first action game and are having lots of fun. This is a case where it's nice to have twins. ;)

Quoting: WorMzyApparently I haven't played Shadow of Mordor since 2018, but I remember it being pretty good fun. Maybe I'll give it another go at some point, assuming the native Linux version still works -- it'd be good to see how the game ends.
TBH, I remember the game as being very good - but the ending not so much. I liked the feeling of a world where things happen all the time, not just around you to please you, and of course the nemesis system or how they called it. Enemies remembering you.

Quoting: Beamboomthought this game didn't run well on desktop Linux? Has that changed?
It runs beautifully. You will notice some frame drops to begin with, but once you buy some web swing skills with XP points, the frame rates go up and up.
Like you're buying fps? :-D

(I hereby claim this indie game idea! :-P )

Quoting: KuduzkehpanJust for clear the things, Spider-man remastered is not great. Steamplay proton wine cedega transgaming are great.
Or i will just ask is it native app for linux ? if no how non native app could be great for a linux user.
Many "native" Linux games use derivatives of Wine
Erm, no, I don't think so. (Obviously, compile time translation layers are not even near to WINE, and much less derivatives).
