Quoting: GuestIt's been said a thousand times already, but you can download many games from Steam and use them without Steam or any other restrictions. (I'm not sure if there's some list though.)Quoting: natis1Are you boycotting Valve? If so I'm curious why...I just don't rent/lease games there, I want to buy (and own without restrictions).

But they also give reasons why they call something unsupported.
One e.g. is VR - they don't support VR on such a medium powered device.
Another one is anti-cheat which actually won't allow you to join servers in multi-player games.
The most interesting one, which is the case here, is "Valve is still working on adding support for this game on Steam Deck", which does not really mean it doesn't work.
All 14 games I've got with this reason are working all fine on my desktop Linux PC, most of them natively, and I am very optimistic that they work on Steam Deck, too. (Just got the Deck today, it's laying behind me, still in it's package.)
So yes, they are not supporting it - as of now -, yes, this looks like "doesn't work" for the average user, but no, they are not saying "in valves testing this didn't work". And I already had such games moving from Unsupported to Verified (or Playable, not sure).
*edit* Just saw the text "Some or all of this game currently doesn't function on Steam Deck" in your image. This is a general explanation what "Unsupported" is supposed to mean and is unsuitable for the actual reason for this game. But yes, Valve did a bad job here, again.

Quoting: BlackBloodRumYou're right in saying that they marked it as unsupported.Quoting: EikeSo I got some terminology wrong big deal. Either way it says "Unsupported" - which most people would take to mean "it doesn't work".Quoting: BlackBloodRumFor example, I accidentally dumped 70+ hours into Saints Row 2 (with mods like GoTR and proton) on the Steam Deck alone. However that game is actually tagged by Valve as incompatible with the Deck (It has the in valves testing this didn't work yadda yadda warning).Erm, no, like most of my 17 (not really) incompatibles, it's got the "Valve is still working on it" badge [External Link].

Quoting: denyasisSorry guys, didn't mean to cause any controversy.I think it's all fine, just exchanging some experiences. YOou brought up an interesting topic IMHO.
Quoting: denyasisI know socket life used to matter to me at one time, being younger, having more money and expecting to upgrade the processor at least one during a lifetime. There might have been technical reasons as well. Back then when CPUs actually got double the speed after two years, not only some extra cores (which many games will find hard to make additional use of).
Steam Deck reservations continue to grow, now at its highest point

Quoting: NerdNoiseRadioBut for the purposes of our conversation here, the point I was trying to make is that these "I'm just along for the ride" people, sticking with Linux out of convenience rather than passion....they still help our cause of advancing gaming on Linux, even if only by complete coincidence / accident. :-)What a success when you think about it! Keeping Linux because it's so convenient...! :-D

Quoting: ValckGot my first computer in 1984, so... :)Quoting: EikeI cannot think of a case where I replaced a processor, but not mainboard, RAM, ...Twice in recent memory, with current AM4... 1800/3700/5800.
Multiple times more in ancient history, which many of you may not remember, or weren't even born.
Quoting: ValckI remember several generations of 3- and 486es, and a couple of Athlons, all running fine in the same main boards as their predecessors, and often more than one upgrade. I have always been assembling my machines myself, and I have always hated when I had to upgrade the main boards... and still do.I keep and kept my CPU longer and often only exchanged the GPU. My last three CPUs were Q6600 (IIRC), i5-3570K and Ryzen 7 3700X. (Always wanted to write that stuff down so I don't forget my personal computer history.)
Valve testing new mobile Steam app with QR codes for sign ins
31 Aug 2022 at 9:29 am UTC
It's got severe longer loading times than the old one on my mobile. It shows me lots of crap I don't care for, and what I actually care for, new discussion posts, is a) well hidden, b) hardly set apart from old discussions and c), when I choose a thread with new posts, it loads quite some seconds just to not bring me to the first new item. I'd rather use the web site on my mobile browser than this.

Quoting: wit_as_a_riddleSo, any of you security experts actually try the app? 🤣🤣🤣Well, I tried it after your comment and now I will take a look how to get rid of it again.

I don't know how they're doing it... ;)
...but somehow, they know what people are actually playing and thus should be checked first.

Quoting: denyasisI think it's cool, but support until 2025... That seems a little short. Is it?It should mean that they will bring new processors for the platform in 2025 - not that you cannot use your old processor anymore after 2025. I cannot think of a case where I replaced a processor, but not mainboard, RAM, ...
I mean most won't get these until 2023, and maybe I'm weird, but I don't buy hardware with the intent to replace it in just a few years.
