Quoting: StoneColdSpiderAnd as for the Steam Deck increasing Linux marketshare by any significant margin well that depends on how many people install Windows on it.....
Currently minimum ~%85 of them are on Linux.

Quoting: YoRHa-2B> VK_EXT_graphics_pipeline_library is included with this release, and it has huge effects on shader compilation stutters. In a good way.

No, it is not. This would be mentioned in the release notes.

It's just included in current development code in the master branch.
Welp, sorry for misinformation.

For the best experience with support for VK_EXT_graphics_pipeline_library and related extensions, the latest Vulkan developer driver, currently version 515.49.06, is recommended.

Linux share on Steam hits highest peak in years thanks to Steam Deck

Quoting: Mountain Manwhile we will no doubt see an increase in people playing games on Linux/Steam thanks to the Steam Deck, I don't expect to see the Linux desktop market share grow by any appreciable amount.
Some of the people who switched to Linux in the last year have deliberately left some of their games behind because most of them worked. So we don't need every single game. IMO the only game we need is Fortnite, which will IMO come to Linux in 2024. If that single game runs on Linux reliably with higher performance compared to Windows then gamers will flock to Linux.

Quoting: PenglingMan, that's so weird to me - I've got Steam installed on three machines, and I've never had the survey at all! I'm a relatively recent Steam user though (my account's not even a year old yet)
I also didn't have the survey for a few months and the got it literally every time in a short period. I am one of the few who got the survey on a non-Deck device running SteamOS (winesapOS to be exact) which are %0.01 of Linux users.

The glorious return of Windows 7
Windows 7 64 bit
3.01% +0.60%

Which is obviously caused by
Simplified Chinese
24.75% +2.50%

They can't get rid of the legacy
Also the increase of the Chinese hasn't stopped the increase of Linux gamers.
