No. Never. Not watching that soul-sucking show ever again.

Quoting: ArehandoroWith all due respect, for me Minecraft is not a game

No, seriously, I thought GTA was the first xD
I still love the mental-image of a very blocky crime-sim.

Quoting: ArehandoroNot a game that I will likely play, but definitely this is the biggest single game piece of news for the industry, and its sequel the most selling game in history.
I didn't know that Grand Theft Auto was the sequel to Minecraft.

Quoting: WorMzyThat's pretty big news -- Bethesda hates Linux.
And their owners at Microsoft aren't known for being fond of it, either.

Quoting: NezchanEdit: No up to date Debian packages in the link they provide either. So on Ubuntu-MATE, I'm pretty much forced to either use Flatpak or stay on the old version, I guess.
I just took a look on my Steam Deck, and the Flatpak hasn't been updated yet, either, unfortunately!

Good update! I've been meaning to fire up Minetest again on my Steam Deck to play some more of Jail Escape [External Link], so now's as good a time as any!

As for removing Minetest Game, I can kind of understand why, even though I agree with dpanter, above, that it seems odd. Reason being, it seemed to cause a lot of unwarranted criticism about Minetest being under-featured from people who hadn't realised that Minetest Game was basically a demo for the engine and not the be-all-and-end-all for it, and that the real stuff is in the ContentDB.

Here's the most played Steam Deck games for November 2023

Quoting: Marlockreading into the list it really hits home just how much Proton was *necessary* for Linux gaming to be seen as a viable alternative for windiws gamers wanting to move into linux or out of windows
It's also handy for odd edge-cases like mine, where I was already a Linux user for a long time, but had gamed on consoles until too many disappointments racked up. Given my gaming-tastes, I simply couldn't have moved all of my gaming over to Linux without Proton being there!

And when I think about that, it hits me just how many options we really have - native, source-ports, emulation, and Proton all open up a hell of a lot.

Quoting: Marlockit also hits home how much the indie scene is friendlier towards linux than AAA titles from bigger studios despite having less resources to keep a native linux version
It makes sense - they've got the creativity and imagination to see where their market is and how it will grow, whereas the big outfits just want to eke all they can out of the status-quo.

Quoting: Marlockand just what a colossus Stardew Valley became, still being a top list game for so much time
I just got into it recently (something I don't think I would have done without the Steam Deck making it so easy and affordable to step out of my gaming comfort-zone - console-gaming's costly risk of trying new things just melted away after I got a Steam account), and it's easy to see how well-deserved all of its success is.

Linux share on Steam back to nearly 2% thanks to Steam Deck

Come on Cranky! Take it to the fridge! \m/

There's a good little fan-made mini-documentary here [External Link] about the character, too - the only thing that it misses is how he was basically a joke about British grumpy-old-men who are all talk and didn't actually achieve any of what they were preaching about (but that's to be expected - the video isn't British-made, and that particular strain of grumpy old geezers is chiefly a British thing). Still, it's great fun and comes from a place of genuine enthusiasm, and I've got great respect for that.

Quoting: DrivanegaXiMajority apple users left to windows side after apple no longer supporting Nvidia, Intel, and, vulkan , opencl ,and cuda. Not sure the point of using macos when it's 1% now but very high in mobile phones and small devices...Linux 12%, ? Linux 4% ?? , or Linux 2%?? Which one??
Desktop share is higher outside of gaming, and Macs are still the main choice in the publishing space and similar, so there's a lot of point in using it there, at least. It's a field where open alternatives still need to gain more reach.
