What? A 5TB edition? Why didn't they have that earlier, when I ordered mine?
An obvious error, which we have a corrections feature for ;)

Quoting: GuestThe price of the docking station is absurd.
People who keep saying that Valve is "the good guy" will get a rude awakening once more questionable decisions will be made.
I will go with the JSAUX dock instead.
I don't quite get the outburst here. Yes it's more expensive but it also has DisplayPort (JSAUX don't have that), USB 3.1 (JSAUX has 3.0) and direct Valve support from a much more known company. Naturally, it will also have the absolute best direct support for the Deck, since it was made specifically for it. I'm not a big fan of the price either, but it doesn't suddenly make them some kind of evil. Bit weird.

As an addition: the official Docking Station doesn't even need to be used. It's an added extra, and they continue to improve the docked experience for third-party stuff all the time. You use whatever you want, Valve even made that point clear in their video.

Steam Deck Beta updates fix Red Dead Redemption 2 and external screen changes

Quoting: GuestThey announce every week a rdr2 fix since ages now, still outright crashes or freezes due to ram leaks after 10-30min, not trusting it anymore. Also it's time to release the 5.19 kernel with working wifi powersave, amd pstates, internal mic getting cut off if I plug in headphones also doesn't make sense. Source, linux veteran/admin advocate, upstreaming to the kernel and well aware that things can take time especially when it's free. But here, I think they need to do a move soonish.
Played a full solid hour+ today without a problem...

Valve makes Steam Deck custom boot screens easier (updated)
5 Oct 2022 at 8:47 pm UTC

Update 5/10/22: in a later Beta update, Valve changed the folders for custom videos so it's now:

~/.steam/steam/config/uioverrides/movies/

If you don't have .steam for whatever reason it's:

~/.local/share/Steam/config/uioverrides/movies/

You still need to make the extra folders yourself.

Here's how to play Overwatch 2 on Steam Deck / Linux

Quoting: GuestYou forgot the step where battle.net and a few other processes lock everything up...EVERYTHING *(cough Agent.exe)*. Bottles Battle.net will install the client and games but trying to play one...lockup.
I can safely say I’ve never had it cause any kind of lockup. So no, I didn’t forget anything. You can clearly see me playing the game in the video it works well.

Quoting: dziadulewiczPlease maybe put the ACTUAL link to Reddit more visible and outstanding; i had to look a long time through the many links in midst of the text

The ACTUAL link is in there, in quotes with the full title of the post. I really don’t see how that’s hard to see.

Yeah the graphics look cleaner and better in this one :)

Fanatical have another great bundle of Steam Deck Verified games

Well unfortunately I don't have the vast resources of the likes of IGN, and if I want GOL to keep growing and keep being able to cover everything, extra funding is simply a must. The same deal for any site that isn't the top 1% of gaming traffic, for reference even the likes of Gamespot, Eurogamer and other much bigger than us websites use the same Fanatical affiliate program.

It is a shame that many stores don't do it directly and I understand the concerns. Honestly, if Steam had an affiliate thing I could probably just remove all the others since 99% of what I cover is on Steam.

Google gives up on Stadia, will offer refunds on games and hardware

Quoting: KlaasBut it requires a lot more power everywhere else, so it should be avoided at all costs.
It's a nice way to think, but like people who argue against capitalistic ways all the time, it's just not grounded in the reality of how we all live our lives. Should I care about how much energy servers on everything I use cost the planet? Yes. Do I? Not really, I'm just trying to survive and keep costs low like everyone else.
