Aren't EA in the process of blocking their catalogue from Linux users? Is this title guaranteed to not get the same treatment before or after launch?

Monster Hunter World has the weirdest co-op system. I bought it to play with my partner but we couldn't play the story together, we could only play with random strangers. It turns out if the story mission you're doing has a cut scene then you have to be the host.

Edit: I meant CS:S, CS:GO wasn't released back then, whoops.

Also, don't deploy on a Friday, you dummies. They've been doing this for a long time. I used to help run LAN parties back in the noughties, CS:GO got an update nearly every Friday night before our Saturday events.
Edit: I meant CS:S, CS:GO wasn't released back then, whoops.

Switched to Linux full time in 2007 and didn't do much "capital G Gaming" for many years (lots of FreeCiv and Aisleriot Solitaire). Started on a few new games in late 2012 at which point I realised I hadn't even bothered putting a dedicated graphics card into my PC as I was only getting 2 fps in CS Source :)

My first activation was on 12 Apr, 2004: Half-Life Platinum Pack
First purchase through Steam was 11 Apr, 2009: Team Fortress 2

Quoting: BeamboomHow weird, my purchase history doesn't go further back than 2011, even though I have the 16 year badge so I've had this account since 2005A lot of the early stuff was available as physical releases and only activated on Steam, you can see it under "View licenses and product key activations" on your account page rather than the purchases section.

Quoting: LinuxScouserI'm hoping the introduction of Steam Deck will push things forward but until thenThey've also switched to BattleEye anti-cheat rather than their own in-house thing so I'm thinking there's some chance now it will eventually work with Proton.

I wonder if this is going to be part of the rumoured Chromebook + dedicated graphics card that will be perfect for running Steam?

Quoting: gardotd426So this sounds like it's only possible for native games, too bad.Proton games already run in a similar container, that's why this works the same way as selecting a different Proton runtime.

It's been a while since I tried this, have they added an option where local co-op players spawn in the same location rather than miles apart?

Quoting: Liam DaweAs per the actual text:Missed that. If anyone else tries it please post as this is not a game I'd get to play by myself.
Multiplayer was not tested yet, as our preview was before release without others available. We have no reason to doubt it.
Quoting: SeegrasI looked at a few pages about stadia; it somehow does look as if it works badly on Linux, because Chrome lacks a load of features, like accelerated video decompression, right?Works great for me, though I have an i7 so plenty of horsepower to do software decoding. There is a build of Chromium with hardware acceleration enabled so if you have a lower spec machine you could try that. In any case, it costs you nothing but time (and some personal information if you don't already have a Google account) to give Stadia a try right now and find out how it runs on your machine.
