Used pop os for a while now while i still hate gnome(feels like a mac and that's not a good thing for me) with a firey passion, the actual os it self is great i find it more stable than the distro its built off weirdly.

Quoting: t3gI don’t play these games, but if you play an Ubi game on Steam it launches Uplay after. Is the Uplay integration workable in Proton?Sort of depends on the game it seems however there is always lutris which handles u play without issue thus far

Quoting: GuestI was really hyped about it. But again Epic only? Well thanks for saving me money i guess....except it wont be epic only as it require a u play account even from the epic store just like it would from steam so either way you have to go through uplay.

mmm be interesting to see a arch based distro making use of the AUR to push out updates without any configuration as its already been done for you at package level. However if arch breaks it breaks spectacularily, that said I dont think i need to worry as I need to get back to my lottery winning plan which is about as likely as valve going back to steam os at this point. They are already partners with codeweavers i know previously they were closely working with cononical until the 32 bit kernel stuff a parnership with manjaro wuth a custom spin.

Quoting: g000hPicked it up, that is a good discount.Well the reason is console limitations when a game is multi platform in order to make the game run at a constant 60 fps of 50 fps in the case of the xbox (360) weapon models were increased in size because its less to rendor on screen at one time ie better frame rate. Before anyone goes but pc nope since the 360 was developed on x86 processor the port costs between 360 and pc was 10 thousand pounds theres an article up about the costs from the dev team that did the wanted game for wb. Which is a long way of saying my original point its less to render so weaker systems and consoles can run it easier.
One gripe I feel like mentioning about modern FPS games - For my own personal preference, I used to like titles where the Weapon Graphic did not take up huge amount of screen-estate, and either it was a fairly small and unobtrusive size, or it was not visible at all and you had a cross-hair in the centre of the screen for aiming. Nowadays you get these massive weapon models, that take up 25% of the screen and really spoil the field of view. I wish FPS games would offer the option to turn these graphics off. I like to see the levels and position of the monsters/enemies/approaching fireballs, without a massive blind-spot.

Quoting: rustybroomhandleyes but the Proton team is being funded by Valve so again wheres is the motivation to port the game if beth do nothing valve pay to make it work on linux result no losses to bethesda if valve do nothing result no loses to bethesda and valve will make that money back plus profit from the money it put into proton.Which brings me neatly back to this why we are getting fewer and fewer new portsQuoting: Whitewolfe80No effort for iD means effort for the Proton team and vice versa.Quoting: rustybroomhandleHow can no effort beat effort ? Beth dont want to port to linux so free ports via proton beat no expense whatsoever that way you get even more people buying your game.Quoting: BoldosWonder when Doom: Eternal PROTON fix will come :DHonestly it's probably less cost and effort to just release a native Linux port of Doom Eternal as they pretty much have that already. Silly id/beth though.

Quoting: iskaputtApparently no bethesda released the game without any DRM by mistake and its floating about on many file sharing platforms no crack required because the exe has no protection. Obv you cant play mp (the drm was patched in today) and it wont get updated but yeah the point release version is avilable sans DRM that version probably will run just fine on proton.Quoting: BoldosWonder when Doom: Eternal PROTON fix will come :DIf it is anything like DOOM (2016), then we'll probably have to wait some weeks for the DRM to be cracked and hopefully id patching it out.
To be honest though, I don't know anything about the situation of the new title.
