Hmm, isn't there a tried and true legal license for this type of thing? Like a permissive open-source license, except no distributing of builds and no commercial use. Right now it is a bit ambiguous which of those two are prohibited for any forks. I presume both?

Quoting: Liam DaweAm I getting this right? It doesn't let light level travel through the blocks (as if solid), but lets you see what is on the other side of the block (whether bright or not)?Quoting: lectrodeThey had tinted glass. I think it's a new shade? No idea.Nope, tinted glass as a block type is new to 1.17. You're thinking of stained glass.

Quoting: GuestThe image is not directly connected to Russia nor corruption. It says:Quoting: ageresHow is Russia anti-corruption? Russia is an oligarchy/kleptocracy and extremely corrupt, lol.Quoting: GuestUntil other economic systems or anti-corruption governments become a thing, Linux will continue to be relegated to socialized support from around the Internet from random individuals and groups.

Free and open source 3D creation suite Blender gets funding from Microsoft

I've also heard that one aspect of the PR boost is additionally legitimizing giant corporations and capitalism in general. Same what billionaires do (intentionally or not). By donating a very tiny fraction of your wealth obtained in an (according to some people) unethical system, you will calm some of the opposition to the unfair distribution of resources. "See, billionaires/giant_corporation take an interest in society and help others". Meanwhile they get to keep their pools filled with gold coins and 12 private jets.

Quoting: CatKillerThanks for the great insight.Quoting: LinuxwarperWhat's their intentions with funding Blender?Primarily it's marketing: they get a good PR boost for peanuts - much less than the cost of an advertising campaign.
However, there's also the concept of "commoditise your complements." That means that all of the things that people use with your product, that you can't control directly, should have lots of competitors that people can also use with your product. If you sell cars you want there to be lots of petrol companies whose petrol your customers can use: you wouldn't want to be dependent on a single massive petrol company who might eventually produce their own car to be used with their petrol.
It doesn't have to be nefarious, it's just a standard business decision. You can see the same thing with Valve's Linux support: they don't want to be dependent on Microsoft, so they're investing in ways to make the OS a commodity that their customers can swap out as they see fit.

Pre: Sorry, didn't read all the preceding discussion this time.
Looking forward to doing the reverse one day - releasing a game for Linux-only, because I don't know anything about Windows/Mac and don't want to spend my time/energy troubleshooting them. I just have to try hard not to be a dick about it (because any people I'm interacting with wouldn't be the direct source of any of my negative feelings). If it's an open-source game, someone else can support it at least.

Quoting: brokkrI understand your perspective, I believe and I used to demand for maximum possible realism from all games myself once upon a time, but at the same time I'm looking forward to being able to pull more friends and family into this game as it has less micromanagement and less mechanics you *have to* keep in mind at all times. And all in all, I welcome experimentation in many directions - Ideally mods or at least CK4 can fix any things that turn out to have been detrimental enough. But I'm going to give them significant benefit of the doubt for trying new things.Quoting: DragosakIt has arguably gotten worse from what I reckon. Instead of each province raising its own levy, you set a rally point and they all appear there after "an appropriate time". (so to my understanding it will take longer the farther away) It's done to minimize the micro management of merging them - but also seemingly makes it impossible to "intercept" them, which is a bummer imo and I hope there's something more to it.Hmmm yeah. I can see how it reduces micromanagement but you're right, it does pull in the same direction, away from immersion and realism :(
Also, armies automatically turn into ships when entering water.
Those are 2 of the biggest criticisms of CK3 which I read on the forums.
Me, I'm looking forward to it very much and really hope that one of the first DLCs/bigger expansions will focus on artifacts and maybe later we get more of Asia (including Japan!) added to the game.

Boneloaf to self-publish Gang Beasts going forwards, updates coming

1. How much money is worth to you.
2. Who your friends are.
I think Human Fall Flat fits some people better, since it has clear goals and paths. Whilst the experience of Gang Beasts can depend on the people youre playing with and the social atmosphere. There is perhaps more exploration of mechanics - what you can and cannot do. Another game with very similar physics is A Gummy's Life [External Link] with maybe more boring levels. This one is basically the same as Gang Beasts, but I'm really bad at game reviews. Also my play time is very low.
