At what point is money no longer simply money?
Being associated with crypto-whatever is apparently okay in the eyes of the Blender Foundation, so one has to wonder where the line gets drawn. I'm not judging either party but crypto is a divisive subject.

One more thing... to lay the blame on APT is ridiculous.
Perhaps you also blame the hammer when trying to hit a nail but instead hit your own thumb. :dizzy:

I wrote in the other article comments how I feel about this and just have to say again that this is stupid.
Linus pulled the pin out of a hand grenade despite warnings about dangerous consequences, then stared at it until it exploded... and now we all have to be "protected" against ourselves regardless.
Changing the prompt is irrelevant, making the text more legible is irrelevant, adding more stumbling blocks is - you guessed it - irrelevant. People will always find ways around any barriers in place. If you don't think they will, then I wonder if you have ever even met a human? We are insane.
What will be the next knee-jerk overreaction to his or another Techtuber borking things?
Why not remove sudo because that seems very dangerous! People can do anything! Or maybe delete the root account entirely, that user has too much power! Super dangerous!!
Also, can we please stop with the nonsensical argument that Linus Sebastian can actually represent an average user. :dizzy:

System76 patches APT for Pop!_OS to prevent users breaking their systems

PopOS: If you do the thing, I will die.
Linus: *does the thing*
PopOS: *dies*
Linus: Why did it die?!?!?!?!?!
As a Linux (mainly Debian) user for the last two decades at least, I find everything about this immensely frustrating. Linux being Linus was always going to happen. If you're familiar with what and how he does things when left to his own devices, I totally expected him breaking at least one distro. Coupled with the impossibly horrible timing for the PopOS Steam package borking, disaster was unavoidable.
This patch makes me sad. APT isn't at fault here, but because a big Techtuber ignored the dire warnings given and literally pulled the pin out of the grenade, we must now protect users from themselves in the name of The Greater Good? What the hell are we doing...
In my completely dismissible opinion, this sort of forced hand-holding goes against the spirit of Linux and if you like this kind of thing, you may enjoy Apple products or Chromebooks.
Hopefully Debian does not accept this kind of nonsense patch upstream. I can't even imagine the hornets nest such a thing could kick into life.
That said; I still think the first video was decent. I expected so much worse from what Linux and Luke have been discussing on the WAN Show.

Very cool idea, but I'm a bit concerned the scope is too wide. Trying to do everything seldom works out well.
Still, I wish them luck!

Techland continue expanding the Hellraid DLC as they try to improve reviews

In my opinion, it's worth 10€ (currently 30% Steam sale for a nice 7€ price). Can even be found cheaper on some key selling sites, if you wish to brave that option.
On the topic of Dying Light 2 and Linux support, Techland remains elusive so there hasn't been a definite answer either way. At this time we are not expecting Linux support outside of Proton, which we also haven't heard much about yet.
The revised Dying Light 2 release date is February 4, 2022 since some time ago [External Link]. Essentially Techland received tons of feedback on the gameplay seen in the Dying To Know episodes and decided it needs more tweaking to flow just right, so it was pushed 2 months.
Keep an eye out this month as certain DL profiles will be getting beta versions for testing and showing the community!

Quoting: slaapliedjeI still haven't sat down and played Hellraid, as I beat the game long ago and always find it hard to go back just to play some DLC, is it worth it?My comment above yours should answer that question. :)
Have we gotten any word about the second one being native to Linux?

Hellraid has come a long way since launch. The added content along with massive improvements over several large updates has been impressive. It's bloody fun and quite spooky, those skeletons aren't exactly noisy and the ambience is fantastic with gorgeous lighting and creepy ambient soundtrack. :)
