I believe FAudio will fix that, which Ethan Lee is working on. Let's hope Valve hire him, full speed ahead number 1!
That will be the solution to make it work out of the box. However there is a workaround for Skyrim Special Edition. Works for me..

That workaround breaks when you fast travel afaik.
Gotta try...

Yes, you're right. Fast travel is an odd condition to break sound, but yes it does. So it's no real help..

Workarounds are nice, but the point with Steam Play is to use no workarounds, click and play.
Quite correct! I don't think they would ever whitelist a game with native MS dlls enabled..

Edit: This breaks as soon as you fast travel.

What do the Wine people themselves think? I mean, the actual developers/contributors?

Quoting: INSOMNIA_The_ArkOk people, we do remember what we have promised quite well. We hoped we will be able to launch all versions simultaneously, however due to the feedback we have received during the closed beta we realised we need to focus on improving core mechanics of the game. Combining both things would be a disaster. We don't see Steam Play as a way to skip native Linux version, just as a temporary solution.
Thanks for the confirmation! I'll gladly use the temporary solution until the native version arrives. :)

Quoting: jasondaigoreading the kickstarter page they said initially the release take place in q4 2015?
Release date: Q4 2015 on PC. Mac and Linux to be determined.
thats a small delay i must say :-) i guess they had much bigger problems than to decide which platforms will indeed be supported.
Linux support was promised at the KS campaign, otherwise I wouldn't have backed the game, BUT I guess when you develop a game on a big (changing) multi platform engine, target platforms are one of the last things in the pipeline. You have to have a game to be able to port it.
So every delay hits the porting targets most, sometimes even bug fixing for the main (already released) platform version.

Quoting: lucifertdarkChecking over at Reddit I found a link to something that could be very useful in the short term, for those times when the Linux port is less than playable compared to the original Windows version we now have Native2Proton [External Link].

edit: Actually I found the mention on Github not Reddit, so many places to look for Proton info now. :D
I just ask myself, does it count as run on Linux, or is it like using Wine?
Well, running a Windows game on Proton normally counts as running on Linux. I don't see why that would change just because an actual Linux version exists.
Anyway, most of the time you'd be doing this with something you already owned and had already played, or attempted to play, on Linux when you first got it, so it would have already counted as a Linux sale before you start with Proton shenanigans.
Yes, right. That would be interesting for newly purchased games with a bad or empty Linux repo.
