Thanks for the in-depth review Scaine.
This definitely looks like a game I would enjoy. I liked Slay the Spire, but was unable to get by one of the bosses after man, many attempts. I enjoyed DOTA Underlords, but I don't play well with others.
Hadean Tactics looks like it contains the elements of these games I enjoyed and eliminates the aspects I found undesirable/frustrating.

With a few days left on the Kickstarter, Ova Magica has been an incredible success

There is a good reason why this Kickstarter campaign has reached all but one of their stretch goals with 3 days remaining. Although the game is not due out until May of 2022, the Kickstarter page shows that the game's content, mechanics and graphics are quite mature. In addition, the Physical Rewards and Add-ons are great. I was particularly impressed with the Collector's Tin Lunch Box. I can just imagine myself walking into the office with my Ova Magica lunch box under my arm. My co-worker's would be oh so jealous.

Bought this game soon after reading the last article and all the great comments from GoL users. Have not wandered far from my spawn point because I am having so much fun constructing my first "shack". I have only played 4 hours, so I will eventually leave the nest; but at this point I am extremely happy with the game.

I likely would have overlooked One Step From Eden [External Link] on the Humble Choice this month, but thanks to the Liam's Humble Choice Article, it is in my library now! Will be downloading and giving it a try this evening. I am glad to see the "easy" mode option has been added. I have a propensity in life to take the easy way out and my gaming habits are no different.

I had forgotten how much I enjoyed these podcasts!
The new Co-Op format was fantastic. As the discussion focusing on game streaming played out, I felt an interesting and very informative synergy was created. Two heads are better than one!
Really looking forward to the Distro Podcast. This subject is something that I have grappling with the last couple months.

As someone who bought a used Commodore 64 in December 1985 ($300) and still has the original "Programmer's Reference Guide" (400+ pages), this game resonates for me. It brings back fond memories of trying to learn to program on the C64.
WARNING:
If you do not want to listen to some old guy talking the "I remember when..." routine, please stop reading now!
My experience with Commodore BASIC (6502 Microsoft BASIC):
I spent weeks typing in the code from a book named "Compute!'s Data File Handler for the Commodore 64". Most of the modules were written in Commodore basic, but some of the routines were in machine language. At this point in time I had a 1541 Disk Drive (170 Kb disks).
Compute!'s Data File Handler for the Commodore 64 - Example [External Link]
When I was finished, I had a nice database management system that I used it for a couple different projects at home and at work.
Since I am getting nostalgic (You were warned!)
My early experience with C64 gaming:
I would spend a couple hours typing in a machine language game from Compute!'s Gazette.
Compute!'s Machine Language Games for the Commodore 64 - Example [External Link]
When I finished typing in the program, I had a game I could play!... but I could not turn off the C64 because I had no storage device and would lose the program. Eventually I got bored or wanted to use the computer for some other project and lost my game.
OK... That's it! I will stop now.

Over 8 years in development later, Factorio is properly out now

I am going to have to come to terms with the fact that if I want to play Factorio, I must pay the full $30.00 price. No discounts on this game.
BTW: I do not doubt it is worth the price.

Quoting: EhvisThe only discount you can get is the Humble Choice discount on the humble store.Factorio has been on my Wishlist for quite some time. When I added it to my Wishlist, I took my usual approach for games over $20.00; "I will wait until the next Steam Sale event and buy it at a discount". I have yet to see it discounted (granted, I could have missed it). Factorio has now left Early Access. Quite often when a game leaves Early Access it is discounted a standard 10%. Not Factorio.

As always, my two daily plays:
CS:GO - I just play with bots. I have found AI players to be much friendlier than RL players.
Shotgun Farmers - Working towards getting my "Prestige 1" achievement. Still have quite a ways to go though
Have also been enjoying:
Undermine [External Link] - Undermine came out of Early Access this week and the improvements are fantastic! Liam's article on the 1.0 update is here
Monster Sanctuary [External Link] - I participated in the Kickstarter campaign and have enjoyed this "gotta catch em all" game. I am enjoying it, but have to admit that I am sorely tempted to purchase another game of this genre, Monster Crown [External Link]. So far I have resisted the temptation, but I feel my resolve weakening. Liam's article on the Early Access release is here

Been following this on GoL for quite some time and finally got around to buying it during the Steam Summer Sale. For the last month I have making a run down the mine shaft once or twice an evening. I usually get killed by the first boss, but I am getting enough gold to upgrade my equipment on the majority of runs. The variety of loot (relics, potions, curses and blessings), enemies and bosses you encounter make each run quite unique and exciting.

The only other game that I have played that has the player construct interactive sentences is Oh...Sir!! The Insult Simulator. The purpose of the conversation in these games is totally different (insulting someone vs. establishing relationships), but this looks like a game I would really enjoy. Added to Wishlist!
