But I've tried before forcing
and didn't make any difference

Quoting: drlambAre you forcing your RX 540's use with PRIME?PRIME doesn't work with vulkan games, but steam has a default config to always use my discrete gpu if the game uses vulkan (even with proton).
But I've tried before forcing
DRI_PRIME=1 %command%and didn't make any difference

I'm trying to open this game in my linux notebook, but right now is capped at 4 fps (both vulkan and OpenGL). Not sure if this is related to the last mesa patch or some game update.
Also my notebook is very weak, but used to run at 15-18 fps before

The tenth Norse world sure is busy as Valheim hits 5 million sold

They can thank the success of the sales because of two main factors: Multi-platform crossplay and the easy way to host dedicated servers.
Even I bought the game, and I'm personally not very found of "survivor games" genre.
So only kudos for the team, and I hope they can still improve a lot this success game.

Direct3D 9-10-11 to Vulkan translation layer DXVK 1.8.1 is out now

I hope it's not the case here, but I vaguely remember AMD accusing Nvidia to do this with some games many years ago.

Mafia II: Work around shadows being broken when the game thinks it's running on an AMD GPU.This make me thing if developers didn't mad the game to break something on AMD hardware on purpose, in order to make Nvidia cards look better.

I love Cyanide & Happiness series, their sense of humor is really something.
I'll buy this game once they release on linux.

Collabora share big progress on the Wine compatibility layer with Wayland

Less problems with the implementation (because it has less tolerance to errors) and faster than OpenGL (when done right), so it's the natural successor.
The problem is currently harder (more complex) to implement than openGL (as I heard) and compatibility with Legacy hardware with no Vulkan support.
All those things in my list will happen naturally, I just wish this was faster :)

Quoting: GuestAllow me to ask why OpenGL should be replaced in the first place?Because Vulkan is a well proven better API than OpenGL (while being open source too)
Do you mean the API as a whole or more like Desktop Environments running on Vulkan instead?

Quoting: GuestDesktop Environments running on Vulkan instead? The later would be super cool indeedDon't quote me on this because I'm not sure if this information is accurate, but I heard that an entirely Vulkan based Wayland compositor could solve the "GBM x EGL Streams" problem, making Wayland work well with Intel / AMD / NVIDIA.

But I agree with you, display port is way better and I wish Raspberry and More televisions could have it as default, but unfortunately that's not the case.

Quoting: ShmerlI'd prefer HDMI to disappear and be replaced with DisplayPort everywhere.Me too, but as a owner of a notebook with only HDMI (2.0) output, I would like to see this on Linux too.

My personal list of expectations for Linux:
-Improvements in the Wayland compositors
-Replacement of OpenGL in favor of Vulkan
-Replacement of Pulseaudio/JACK in favor of Pipewire
-Freesync with HDMI
-Wayland as default for Wine
I'm always happy when I see one of those things going forward :)

Portal 2 from Valve gets a big update with Vulkan support from DXVK

I think this is a case for test if DX9 -> Vulkan can perform similar / better than DX9 -> OpenGL.
If the first case is correct, I expect to see similar updates with other Valve games, as well as this option inside the game options instead of a launch parameter.
