Intel revealed more Lunar Lake processor details with their new Xe2 graphics

Hopefully, the bump in graphics performance translates to the Battlemage desktop GPUs whenever those drop. I've been pretty satisfied with my Arc A770, despite its occasional warts. I'm the sure the next Arc cards will be even better.

Kaspersky release a free Virus Removal Tool for Linux

I have no objection to this. I have no comment on Kaspersky as a company, but I've told in the past that their anti-virus is very good. I did briefly use it back on Windows 10 shortly before I switched to Linux, and it appeared to do a good job of finding things.

Would I use this? No, because I don't like downloading things from the Internet and running them as executable (and giving them sudo access, in this case). I am, perhaps naively, not concerned about viruses or malware on my PC. I use Linux, all my software comes from Flathub or the Ubuntu repos, and the stuff I do download from the Internet (images, music, ROMs, etc.) do not have root access.

Honestly, I largely forgot about this game; but since I had donated to their Patreon eons ago, I ended up getting a code for this game. So since it was free in a sense, I gave it a try anyway.

It's not bad. I have it on High settings with a frame limit cap of 60, because the frame rate isn't stable above 60FPS. The instability is maybe a bit worse at frame rates above 60 on OpenGL, but it's difficult to say. Either way, High + 60FPS frame limit on Vulkan or OpenGL appears to be the sweet spot for my PC.

I have a modest setup of an i5-12400 + Arc A770 8GB, also on Kubuntu 24.04, running in 1440p resolution on both of my monitors. Since upgrading to 1440p from 1080p, I generally lock all my games at 60FPS despite have a 165hz gaming monitor. I am perfectly fine playing at 60FPS, and the lower frame rate eases the load on my GPU and keeps the fans from coming on most of the time.

I don't like having to do any compiling and stuff. It's easier for me to just boot up a ROM in an emulator.

KDE Plasma 6.1 Beta released with Wayland Explicit Sync support

Right now, I'm leaning towards staying on Kubuntu LTS. I recall hearing that the Kubuntu Team will be backporting a version of Plasma 6 to 24.04 sometime around the end of this year. If so, I may get to try Plasma 6 without needing to upgrade to 24.10. We'll see what happens, I guess.

Ubuntu 24.10 roadmap includes Wayland by default for NVIDIA

I know most people using Ubuntu or one of its flavors run the LTS, but I've had a good experience running normal releases the past two years. I will probably continue doing so on my desktop. Although, it's Kubuntu in my case.

Square Enix shifting from "quantity to quality" and be more multi-platform

Probably a controversial opinion, but multiplatform is the way to go these days. Exclusives no longer make sense to me. They were fun back in the 6th Gen Console generation and earlier, but just seem old-fashioned today.

Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (Noble Numbat) is now available

Right now, I'm debating whether I want to stay on LTS after my Kubuntu install(s) upgrade from 23.10 (whenever the update drops). I've been pretty satisfied running normal releases the past year, but it may be worthwhile just sticking to LTS.
