I hope this suceeds I probably wont be buying it because shooters with no story leave me cold (i bought ion fury just to support linux tried it and got bored after 1st level) the gameplay loop just isnt enough for me but its your jam crack on, the work on GZdoom is seriously impressive given how old the underpinnings of the software is.

Anyone who is suddenly figuring out now that it's too hard to support Linux (on a game done in Unity no less) clearly didn't think about how to make the game run well cross-platform back when they were in the planning stage (if there was a planning stage), didn't pick libraries intelligently and so forth. Now they're stuck because they couldn't be arsed to think about what they were promising back when they were promising it.

I think when they said they tried to make a linux port i think they meant they pressed export it didnt work so they gave up rather than there published excuse of well we realised it would cost money and we werent willing to pay for it.

Well yeah but its not the point is it people were worried proton would become the default i would argue it already is. Feral have smartly become a publisher using old partnerships C&A to bring out their first offering multi platform.

I played this game to death back in the day, and I have fond memories of all the campaigns I played. But in the end, every battle was about exploiting the AI stupidity...

Yup used to win every battle by marching my archers to the walls and they then proceeded to kill everyone in the settlement as they run at the gates continously with the last update the charged out i just moved heavy infantry in front easy wins. Ended up re creating the British empire in Rome basically France and full control of Africa and middle east.

Well yeah its smart business, Google bought a whole office suite company to make google docs. Most companies dont want to take a risk if you buy something that is already sucessful you in theory maintain profit while giving oppotunities to add to it. Ie Zenamax being bought by Microsoft they instantly gain four mainstream hit ips without spending a penny (in r and d) and fart out remasters of Fallout 3/New Vegas/Skyrim/Obilivion until the end of time and still make money.

Why microsoft didnt change it they just pumped funding into the backend and increased bandwidth. So far they havent changed anything really its still github

They have also added Mad Max which at one point had a native linux version not sure if there is a pengiun verson on gog though and its been delisted on steam

i didnt go dumpster diving pre covid i helped a friend clear out an office of it itequipment the drives had been pulled but they were all 4th gen Xeons majority 4 core 8 threaded but there were a fair number of 6/12 as i had the choice between a cash payment or taking some of the stock i took a mix of the two easily made back what he was going to give me with some cleaning and generic 250gb ssds. They can still handling modern gaming just fine plus didnt have to pay for windows licences sold all of them with ubuntu with pre installed wine as retro pc gaming machines i had no returns pays to check corporate clearences out.

I think the year it was introduced i got an email for downloading i think zorin linux due to some company claiming it held the copy write for it. It was just a generic letter from Virgin listing it as a strike against my account. But that was 7 years ago and i havent had anything since. Our providers are meant to inform everything back but as i said they do not do it because they would lose profit which means it aint happening.Also it does also go against the data protection act which was enhanced with GPDR which we are tied into. Brexit is going to be interesting to see where we go with copyright laws.
