I'm absolutely loving that Sony is so committed to the PC industry and the Deck these days... even if my wallet isn't. I'll pick up Spiderman in the sale, then this (Last of Us) when it comes. Might do the Morales game in late Q1. They're all quite beefy purchases, but a) they're awesome games, b) they're Deck-verified and c) no DRM (or at least, no deal-breaking Denuvo, from my point of view).
Is this... Linux gaming? Can't say it hasn't been a long time coming, but good grief, it's unrecognisable from where we were just five years ago.

Steam has a Turn-Based Festival going on with some great games

It's not on this list, but I just bought "Stolen Realm" to play with a couple of mates and even though it's turn-based, it's an absolute blast. Great customisation, fun battles, and because everyone takes their turns simultaneously, the pacing is superb. Big thumbs up from me!
I think I was put off before because the screneshots made it look/feel like a 6 player party game and that's a lot to juggle. But nope - I played it single player, party of one, and it was great. Even better in a party of three with two mates. Or mix it up and take 2 characters each. Loads of variety and the game scales accordingly.

Quoting: b4lvBut it's been free to play for years. The only change here is the game's name.I'd assume not, given that in the developer's own announcement [External Link], they say:
Gene Shift Auto is now F2P. This will massively grow our playerbase, get fresh faces into our community and allow you to play with your friends for free!

The first game was excellent so I'll be shelling out for this, for sure, albeit, probably after it leaves EA.
The Next-Gen update to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with FSR 2.1 should be fun for Steam Deck

Quoting: KlaasSo we expect a performance boost from FSR 2.1, but we do not know how much performance is decreased by the engine switcheroo. That's true! Guess we'll find out on December 14th though.

Quoting: setzer22Nice, I remember not being able to reach consistent 30FPS for this game on my Steam Deck, so I'm wondering if the new version will make performance a bit better.Judging by Liam's video on Cyberpunk (in the article), I'd imagine you'll see a 10-15fps jump from FSR 2.1. It's an insane performance bump.

Quoting: dibzThey should have just copied Debian's different release names from the start, "stable, testing, and unstable."Yeah, but no way a commercial firm is putting "unstable" in the title of pretty much anything!
Doesn't get more straight forward then that.

I'd just prefer that they created an Xcomposite capture that somehow recognised games - like capturing anything that started a borderless fullscreen canvas, for example.

Quoting: CorbenI mentioned my solution for this on Discord a while back, but will repeat here. I have one "Game" scene which has about 20 sources - one source (Xcomposite) named and capturing each of the games I play. Then, when I switch to the Games scene, it automatically picks up whatever game happens to be running. Yes, it requires a touch of maintainance here and there, but it means that I don't have to constantly update one Xcomposite source to a new game window whenever I decide to play something else.Quoting: XpanderYeah i heard that, but why switch from a working solution to something that breaks plugins :(From what I've heard, nobody wants to touch that code anymore. So it had to go. With the switch to qt6 many plugins broke... well, the usual update thingy, sometimes old stuff has to be cut off :-/
Too bad if really good functionality is lost then.
Quoting: XpanderXcomposite is pretty similar to perf with nvfbc to be honest, thats not an issue really, but i have to select what window i want to record then every time and if i want to record whole desktop, its sad story. Fullscreen capture (XSHM) is just epicly slow when you launch a game on the desktop. nvfbc was performant in all situations.Exactly my reasons to use nvfbc still as well. I can just select one of my workspaces to capture, don't have to create sources for each window, etc...
Before I used nfvbc I had one scene where I created a capture window for each game, and used it as a nested scene in my main scene. But still, needed it's own source for each window to capture.
Hmm... how about a tool, that just creates a "window" of a workspace? Is something like that available? If there was a performant way of doing that, it would solve this issue.
I'd just prefer that they created an Xcomposite capture that somehow recognised games - like capturing anything that started a borderless fullscreen canvas, for example.
