I've just been using Lutris for the few emulators I have and it works well. EmulationStation looks like it has a bit nicer of an interface so I might give it a shot.

Welcome to the fold, brother.
People can hate on it all they want but you really hit the nail on the head here:

it really does give you a little extra spark of happiness and that should never be underestimated. It's really amazing how far OpenRGB (and OpenRazer for that matter) has come in just the last two years.

Quoting: eldakingFor games I think it would not be sensible, but I wonder if this could be the solution for people that need Microsoft Office on their machines and would want to migrate. This is actually how the company started. The product was originally called Crossover Office. MS Office has always been a major focus for them.

I've been a paying subscriber to Crossover for what, 15ish years now? So, long before Steam came around and made it easy to manage separate Wine (Proton) installs. Back then, Crossover was the only show in town allowing you to have 10 different Wine installations all with different tweaks and different emulated versions of Windows (3.51 was the popular one back then which seemed to work with most games, oddly enough). Being able to manage all that in one app was fantastic. Backing up "bottles" and restoring them, say, after a rebuild of your OS was/is a breeze too. Their .tie file system has been around for a long time too which basically lets you download Wine presets for a specific game which others in the community have already figured out.
Things changed a bit about seven or eight years ago. I think they realized there was more money to be made catering to the MacOS crowd rather than Linux users and their focus very clearly shifted in that direction. This is largely because they found they could sell their porting expertise as a service to the actual game devs and publishers who wanted their Windows-only app or game to also have a Mac version. They still would make improvements to game compatibility on the Linux side but it just wasn't as rapid or significant as earlier. Honestly, I've half-expected them to announce dropping Linux support altogether for years now.
That brings me to now and the 800lb gorilla which wasn't mentioned in this posting. The update coincides with a massive price increase for yearly subscriptions. How massive? Try an increase from $30 to $75. They haven't increased the price in many years and I get that they need to bump it up but..more than double? Really? This is at a time when the product has actually become steadily less relevant for Linux users too now with Steam and Bottles on the scene.
For myself, I won't be renewing and I won't really miss it either. There's just too many other fine solutions which provide an experience as good or better for..nothing.

Just finished upgrading from 20.04 to 22.04 Xubuntu (full rebuild, not an in-place upgrade). Everything's working great, so far. Only snag I've run into is a problem with the xfce-panel system tray where I'm getting duplicate icons showing up there. Appears to be a contention issue between xfce-statusnotifier-plugin and the new system tray code. They're in a transition period right now moving away from statusnotifier which was recently deprecated. There are workarounds so not a show-stopper.
OpenRazer new release adding support for more Razer hardware on Linux

This combined with Polychromatic gives me most of the control I could want for my Viper wireless. They did finally fix control of the mouse dock so that it shows up as a separate device and can be controlled independently but I'm still waiting for more robust battery reporting. They've added basic battery notifications but having the dock turn red (or another color) when the mouse battery gets low is still not possible. Now that I think about it, this is probably possible via polling the OpenRazer driver now and just needs to be added as a feature in Polychromatic.

Wishlisted and will definitely be grabbing this one as soon as it's on sale. Seems like it's also in the same vein as Darkside Detective (one of my all-time favs - both versions). Kinda surprised I haven't heard of this one until now.

I spent the last few weeks trying so, so hard to play OpenMW but I finally had to throw in the towel. I just can't play for more than about 10 min without getting extreme motion sickness. I consistently have frame rates around 100 and also tried many FOV settings from very low to very high all to no avail. I don't know exactly what changed or when with more modern FPS games but I do remember mostly hating FPS games from the old days due to how badly they'd all trigger my motion sickness. It's something which I rarely experience on modern FPS's and have, apparently, taken for granted.
The only thing which actually helped was switching to 3rd person. Unfortunately, MW just can can't be played in an enjoyable manner that way. It just wasn't designed for it and so things like fighting or trying to select items is very difficult and not fun. Travelling around in 3rd person is mostly fine but still gets to me after a while. A real bummer since the game is deep and runs so flawlessly and fast on Linux.
