The latest Volcanoids update looks electrifying
27 Jun 2023 at 11:25 am UTC

Quoting: LungDragoHow does this game fare when compared to Forever Skies? They both have the premise of having a mobile base instead of a static one, which I find interesting.
I'd say not too much. I only played the demo of Forever Skies, so don't have a complete picture. The one thing you might not realise is that Volcanoids is fairly combat heavy. There is base building and crafting (manufacturing would be a better term here), but it's all in service of combat and gaining access to other places. Haven't played the last couple of Volcanoids updates though. Got quite far at one point and decided to leave it until it was closer to final release.

Upload VR Showcase bundle has some good picks for VR fans

Started VR for the first time on KDE and it gave me the 109 error as well. Started it again and everything was fine and played three games in about four hours without issues. Clearly something is up because I've never seen this error on gnome.

I've recently installed KDE. Have not tried VR yet because... 30 degrees in my room, but at some point I'll check if it still works. Always annoying when it randomly fails to work.

That should be "Extinguisher Group" of course. Although I would have expected "Extender Group" before that. Maybe I've missed it.

Humble Choice for June 2023 has Ghostwire: Tokyo and Remnant: From the Ashes

Some pretty good games this time. Only slightly devalued by Remnant having been a freebie on Epic.

An unfortunate victim of Proton. Especially since the Windows version is completely unacceptable due to the presence of denuvo.

That is some good looking pixel art. Hope the gameplay matches up. Not quite enough content for me to get into it now, but I'll keep an eye out.

Quoting: scaineWell, after watching that video, it's no surprise to see this line in the Kickstarter:

We are heavily inspired by video games like Okami, Hollow Knight, Paper Mario, Dust Force and Celeste and Anime such as Spirited away, Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, Princess Mononoke and Mononoke.
emphasis mine

I guess I can add this one as a reference to my Hollow Knight article...
Definitely leaned towards Hollow Knight instantly. It seems they went even harder on the precision platforming. Might even be too much for me.

We have to wait a bit longer for Hollow Knight: Silksong

And to "celebrate" this post, I actually finished Hollow Knight today. Barely. That game is a little above my skill grade. I wonder if they'll still make a native Linux release for Silksong as I don't see any platforms.

What are you checking out in Steam Puzzle Fest 2023?

Quoting: PenglingDoes anyone know if there are any 2D puzzle-platformers in this sale, please? Trying to search for them by genre doesn't actually seem to narrow the displayed results, so I'm having a tough time actually finding anything!
If you go through the generic "special offers", you get a list that you can filter for both platformers and puzzles. Works much better than through the puzzle fest list.
