Is this a release from experimental? If so, the usual warning about it requiring Mesa 22.2 is required :)
I'm not sure though, as it doesn't mention Halo Infinite.

Quoting: jordicomaCan someone simply fork the project and name it another thing? I suppose that has some legal problems.Did you read the article and comments? That's what PrismLauncher is about.

I was finally able to play Halo infinite with the mesa-git flatpak add-on (need both 32 and 64 bit versions).
It runs well, but stutters occasionally. I disabled the shader cache, as I may have more than 3TB of installed games, but I wasn't actually booted into my main gaming partition (I had a computer fail and all that).
I was planning to try and run games through NFS on the Steam Deck; I hope they'll add the ability to enable the shader cache on a game-by-game basis.

However, a cursory search shows that it's possible to run the game with EAC disabled: `+server.secure 0 +server.eac 0 +server.encryption 0`.
Since it's possible to run it with EAC disabled, I have trouble to see what else Linux could bring to the table for helping cheat developers?
They would just develop their cheats with EAC off; then add EAC evasion techniques to the lot before shipping to windows... cheaters mostly cheat on Windows anyway; they don't want to dual-boot just to cheat, which is understandable. So that windows EAC evasion has to be developed anyway. And they can develop the cheat part just fine on Windows too by disabling EAC. What's left? Developers slightly prefer Linux, so let's inconvenience them? That might slow down cheat makers by 1%, if anything.

Quoting: ArtenI don't know rust, i didn't play it, so dont know how multiplayer work in that game. But generaly, there is solution how to solve linux cheater "problem".Well, their reasoning explains clearly that they don't want to open it, even a bit, so that cheats cannot be developed on Linux. So it makes sense that they would disallow even that.
1. They can disable crosplatform multiplayer. You have problem with cheaters? Let linux users be on separated servers. Some players want to play with linux frieds? Just allow windows users to join to linux servers with warning of greater risc of cheaters.
2. If game has ability to create own server, just give ability to run game without EAC for "not EAC servers"
Linux can be unofficially supported with these limits.

SteamOS and Steam Deck on top for Linux in the Steam Hardware Survey

Seriously though, all you computers will display it for a few days at the beginning of the month if you're selected.
I used to switch to my more powerful machine to answer it.

Quoting: KuJo*gimli voice* it still only counts as oneQuoting: KuJoFor this month, the Linux share will be higher. I had the survey yesterday. 😁*ROFL*
Received the survey on PC a few days ago ... and now just also on my Steam Deck!
2x Linux! This month the survey should go through the roof! *gg*

PC gamers could also be ansering from their Windows machine, skewing the results too.

Quoting: CatKillerif I happen to get the survey on both a desktop and a Deck in a particular month (I haven't had the survey on my Deck in the 2½ months I've had it, btw) then I'll get counted twice in the hardware survey (because that's two pieces of hardware) but I'll only count as one active user (because there's only one of me)Not really. Accounts are selected randomly for the steam survey. If you are, a popup will appear on all of your devices. You'll be counted only one time, I'm not sure on which device. I usually try to answer on my main gaming rig.

SteamOS and Steam Deck on top for Linux in the Steam Hardware Survey

I've been looking at GoL's survey. OSS GPU drivers surpassed proprietary ones recently (AMD pretty close to overtaking nvidia). Interesting trends all around, included for Wayland adoption, which seems to be picking up (btw, there's no "window managers" on Wayland. Not yet.)
I'm wondering if you could do monthly "one-off" surveys in the reminder post. Maybe also accept anonymous input (counted separately). The topic could be quite random. "Will you get a steamdeck", "have you tried VR", "What language do you have Steam set to", etc.

It'as if everything was designed to prioritize short-term gains, up to th CEO and shareolders... by design?

Quoting: BlooAlienToo many corporate "bean-counters" with dollar signs in their eyes "stepping over dollars to pick up dimes"… They just can't grasp that the way to increase profits long-term and reliably is foster a loyal fan-base that repeat buys from you on a regular basis, rather than an angry hateful mob that will actively go to any of your competition rather than spend a single thin dime with you.Don't forget that "bean counter" performance is also measured short-term!

Quoting: SlackdogWas broken here for a while - guess I know why now, lol! Tried it last night and it's working fine, can even connected with EAC enabled (it doesn't work but allows me to play campaign etc.. so there's that.Ooh, can you get achievements (or access the exchange) without the EAC workaround this way?
